The life of Dorothy “Chee Chee” McCloud, Dorothy Lee McCloud, affectionately known to all that knew her as “Chee Chee”, was born February 15,1951 to the late Robert Lee & Carrie Lee McCloud in Belle Glade, fl.
Dorothy was raised in Belle Glade where she attended the public schools in Palm Beach County, she graduated from Lake Shore Jr/Sr High School with the class of 1969.
Dorothy joined and attended Mt Calvary Missionary Baptist Missionary Church, Raiderville in the late 70’s where she served as president of the David Knight Usher Ministry.
Dorothy was a devoted employee of L&P trucking for over 20+ years for her good friend Mr. Harvey Lester, and other companies which allowed her to travel throughout the states doing migrant agriculture work until her health no longer allowed her to continue working.
Dorothy loved to fish with her friends Cassandra and Pete, but going to Yard Sales was her hobby that she looked forward to every weekend. When she stopped working spending time with her family kids and grandkids was everything to her. Dorothy “Chee Chee” & “Off 80 Chee” were the names she was affectionately given by her Okeechobee Center “project” family, where she lived for 51 years with much Love and Respect.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her sisters Shirley, Willie Ann, Sharon, Constance, Sharolyn, Renee Mae, and Annie Lee, 1 brother Robert, bonus daughter Tameria.
Those left to cherish her precious memories are, her son Johnnie Lee Simmons, Jr (Chartell) Live Oak Florida. 4 Daughters-Felicia Hammond (Ricky) Sha’quanda Brown Belle Glade, Pheadra McCloud, Royal Palm Beach Fl, Kadi Simmons of Atlanta Ga. One Sister Elsie Lee McCloud, Belle Glade Fl. 3 Sister’s in law, Geraldine Bennett, Belle Glade Fl, Jackie Young (Mike) Clewiston Fl, Dorothy Murrell(Louis) Tampa Fl. 1 aunt Sarah Nell Barber of Delray Beach FL. God daughters Wilneshia Williams & Keeochia Edwards. Grand children Lewell, Jimmerial, Jonteria, Ricky Jr, Kimiaya, Keonte, Jontavis, Kamarie, Jakeria, Jaliyah, Jarvis Jr, Trinity, Journee, J’adore, and 6 Great Grand Kids. Special friends Janice Albritton, Clara Mincey, Mary Royal, Emanuel Mizairie, and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
We want to say our Thanks to you for the prayers you prayed, they gave us strength and helped us to be brave. Our thanks to you for your visits here it showed us that our friends and family really do care. Thank you for the for the food you prepared we truly enjoyed it and plenty was shared. Thank you for the Condolence cards, we received them all with your best regard. Thank you for being with us the last mile of the way, to leave our Loved one there to stay. To the family of chee-chee I wish to extend my deepest sympathy and condolences to you all. I will miss her terribly, I was blessed to have known her, and call her my friend. I knew Chee over 40 yrs. and after leaving Belle Glade, returning home to Rochester N.Y. we stayed in contact.I will miss our talks about what you cooking Sunday, talking about our children, and of course those grand kids.
