Reflections of Life Johnnie B. Battle, Sr.
On Sunday April 4, 2021 allow your imagination to allow you to imagine with me, Jesus standing in the Garden of Heaven as he called his servant to come home. Johnnie B: Lord, I understand you sent your angels for me. Lord: My child, Yes, you are the one I sent for. Angel I: Lord who is this child who had found favor with God? Lord: Johnnie B. Battle Sr. is his name, born to Lula Mae DeVose and Farris Battle on March 28, 1933 in Barbour County, Alabama. Angel II: In his quest to do your will he accomplished many things. Angel III: Johnnie B. attended Comer Vocational High School in Springhill, Alabama. He married Martha "Moot" Pugh on November 28, 1955 and remained a devoted husband for sixty-five years until his death. He gave his life to Christ at an early age and was baptized at Springhill Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Springhill, Alabama. Johnnie B. moved to Belle Glade, FL and later reunited with New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late pastor, Rev. Robert F. Hairston III. He was employed with Wright Lopez company for 21 years prior to his retirement, 20 years with Burnups prior to his retirement and 9 years at Bell South. Angel IV: Missing Johnnie B. greatly will be his everlasting, loving and much devoted wife, Martha "Moot", daughters, Diane (Ronnie), JacQueline, Pahokee, FL, Selene (Chris), South Bay, FL, Veronica, Sheteka (DeWayne) Pahokee, FL, brother in law, Abraham Conner(Johnnie),Leesburg, FL, Samuel Pugh (Susie),Columbus, GA, sister in law Lois Pugh-Turner, Oro Valley, AZ, Ozell Pugh-Kendrick (Arthur), Springhill, AL, Linda Smith-Pugh, Pembroke Pine, FL and Shirly Pugh, Tampa, FL, two first cousin, Leola Haynes and Laurena O’neal, Belle Glade, FL, nineteen grandchildren, (one deceased) thirty five great grands and one great great grand. A host of other relatives and friends. Angel IV: Lift up your heart and share with me, God wants you now, he set you free. Johnnie: I keep hearing voices, I haven't heard in years telling me to come on home: my mother, Lula, father, Farris, stepfather, John West, my son "Boo" auntie Mandie and so many more. Angel V: Last goodbye never come. Do you want to talk to a special someone? Johnnie: If I may, I would like to tell my wife "Moot" when I told her, one day I am going to leave you I will not be coming back. What I meant, I was going home to Jesus to be at rest and you are going to miss me, but you will be alright.
I moved from my address on April 4,2021. I received a called from God who is my new landlord. He informed me that my new address was available. I began to pack up and get all the things that I needed to take with me. Then I realized that I had everything I needed. I wanted to make sure I had changed my address with the Post Office. I said my last OK to my wife, family and friends and finally said my last prayer thanking God for my new home. I then realized I had done everything that I was supposed to do. I put in a request with Jesus for him to look after my family and friends while I'm away and He said He would do just that. I have lived in Belle Glade for many years and seen a lot of things in my lifetime, but never have I seen a home as beautiful as the paradise in which I dwell right now. It has everything that I’ve always wanted and needed, Peace, Joy and Happiness. There is no more pain, fear or disappointment. There is sweet serenity everywhere. Therefore, don't worry about me, I'm doing just fine. I got to go now, because I need to get fitted for my wings. I love you always. PS. I don't have a phone, so you can't call me, but you can call King Jesus. He may not come when you want him, but you can bet he'll be right on time.
