A time to be born………. The late Oswald Herbert Amos was born on March 9, 1924 in St. Andrew, Jamaica. He is the eldest of four children to the late Kenneth Amos and the late Gladys Amos. He was proceeded in death by his three siblings: Lloyd Amos, Maude Amos and Linnette Amos A time to live……… As a young man, Oswald travelled to the United States and worked in the agricultural and sugar industries for many years. He eventually secured a position with Atlantic Sugar Association. He worked as the company’s labor camp manager until his retirement in 1994. Oswald was a devout Christian. He served the Lord under the leadership of Pastor Trevor Ellis at Grace Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ in Belle Glade, FL, as a Sunday School Teacher. He loved the Lord wholeheartedly. In his spare time, he read the Bible religiously, quoting scriptures as part of regular conversations. He loved the Bible and would often read it aloud as he considered it poetry. One of his favorite Bible verses was II Chronicles 7:14: If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from Heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” Oswald understood the importance of talking to God frequently, and made sure he taught his family to do the same. A time to die…….. Oswald Herbert Amos married his soulmate, Verona L. Cunningham on April 16, 1956. Together, they reared their four children Frank (deceased), Rose Marie, Cecelia (deceased) and Charmaine. They were married for 38 years before the Lord called Verona home in 1994. On January 19, 2021, God called his child Oswald H. Amos home. We are eternally grateful to God for blessing us with him as the head of our family. We will carry on his legacy with pride.
