In Loving Memory of Sylvia Carter December 10, 2025
Sylvia Carter will forever hold a special place in my heart. Her life was marked by joy, grace, and an infectious laughter that could instantly lighten any room. She carried herself with such pride—especially when it came time to get dressed for convocation. She showed up beautifully, every time, with her radiant smile and unmistakable presence.
One memory that will always make me smile is from during COVID, involving Sylvia and my family, Cynthia and Lafayette. I called the house to check on them, but no one answered. I tried again and again, and my worry just wouldn't let me rest. From North Carolina, I finally called the sheriff in West Palm Beach and told him I couldn't reach my family and needed someone to knock on the door. I must have sounded so urgent that when the sheriff arrived, he didn't know what to expect. To his surprise, everyone came out of the house—safe and sound. He laughed about it, and so did we. It became one of those moments that reminded us how deeply we cared for one another.
Sylvia's laughter, her warmth, and her beautiful smile will be deeply missed. She lived fully, loved deeply, and left behind memories that will continue to bring comfort and smiles even in our sorrow.
Go home now and rest, Sylvia. You have earned it. You will always be remembered, always loved
