In the loving embrace of our Heavenly Father, Carrie Elizabeth Andrews (Pettus) was called to her eternal home on March 8, 2024, in Chester, Virginia. She completed her earthly journey at the age of 84, having been a vessel of His grace since her birth on November 26, 1939, in Mecklenburg County, Virginia. Carrie started her career at Phillip Morris, where she served her co-workers as a union steward. She furthered her knowledge and understanding through the halls of J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College, where she graduated cum laude, always striving to embody the wisdom imparted by her Savior. She retired from Richmond Public Schools and walked in faith as a devoted servant of Mount Olive Baptist Church.
With hearts full of gratitude for her life's blessings, Carrie's memory will be held sacred by her son, Blair II, and daughter, Caroline (Timothy); her cherished grandchildren, Nakisha, Terrell (Nachelle), Brandon, Danielle, and Breonna; and her adored great-grandchildren Samara, Raina, Landon, Reonna, Sanai, and Ryleigh. Her spirit is also celebrated by her sisters Ruth, Emma (Lloyd), PeNey, and Marie, bonus brother Leon, and her in-laws Mary, Dot (Richard), and Harry Lee (Emma). Carrie's godchild Monica (Gregory) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends will forever honor her legacy of love and service. She now joins the Kingdom of Heaven with her beloved husband of 58 years, Blair Andrews Sr., her parents, Thomas Pettus, Ida Jones Pettus Townes, William Townes, her siblings Thomas Jr., Clara, Walter, and Robert (Derline), and godson Nathan who have gone before her.
We welcome all to pay their respects on Friday, March 15th, at Carter's Funeral Home (206 Virginia Avenue) in Clarksville, VA, where Carrie will lie in repose from 1-6 pm. Her homegoing service will be a testament to her unwavering faith on Saturday, March 16th, beginning with a viewing at 9:30 a.m. and followed by the funeral at 10 a.m. at Mount Olive Baptist Church Southside (2611 Bells Road) in Richmond, VA. Carrie's mortal remains will be laid to rest at Jerusalem Temple United Holy Church Cemetery (443 Skipwith Road) in Boydton, Virginia, at 3 p.m., where we shall commend her soul to the Lord's keeping.
Carter's Funeral Home in Clarksville, VA, is honored to assist with these arrangements. As we reflect on Carrie's journey, we remember her gentle spirit as a Girl Scout Leader, her reverence as a Deacon at Mount Olive Baptist Church, and her civic responsibility as an Election Poll Worker. Her life was a testament to her respect for all of God's creation, and her memory will continue to inspire those who were blessed to know her.

Cousin Carrie, I have nothing but happy memories of you over the years since childhood when my family and I would go to Boydton to visit my grandparents and we'd always stop and see you and Blair. I will always remember your kindness and love and thanks for your support when my mom informed you of some of the creative projects I've been working on. You're always in my heart. Condolences to you and your family. Rest In Peace. - Stephen McMillian
