On Thursday, March 28, 2024, God came and took His servant, Irene Elizabeth Morse Carter home to be with Him. Irene was born on January 4, 1941 to the late John C. Morse and Anna Belle Morse. While growing up in Boydton, Virginia, Irene was affectionately known as Kelly and Rene.
When Irene grew up in Boydton, she was baptized and joined the St. Taylor R. Z. U. A. Church. She served as the organist and the pianist.
Irene attended elementary school at Boydton Grade School in Boydton, Virginia and then high school at West End High School in Clarksville, Virginia. After high school, Irene attended a business school in New Jersey. While living in Scotch Plains, New Jersey, Irene was employed with Martin-Dale-Hubbell for approximately forty years in New Providence, New Jersey.
In the 1980’s Irene was married to Al Carter.
Irene became a member of the Fountain Baptist Church. While being at the Metropolitan Baptist Church, she received the Quiet Spirit Award honoring deaconesses and trustees.
In 2007, Irene decided to return home to Boydton, Virginia. Here she stayed for the remainder of her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, John, Frank, Richard, James, William, Samuel, and Earl; sisters, Rosa Childs, Anna Belle Taylor, Marie Eugene and Florence.
She leaves her precious memories; her brother, Sterling; devoted niece who took care of her until her departure, Phyllis Morse-Doctry; a host of loving nieces, nephews, friends and the Amedisys Hospice Team.
Visitation for Mrs. Irene Elizabeth Morse Carter will be held on Thursday, April 4, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM at the St. Taylor R. Z. U.A. Church with the funeral service beginning at 1:00 PM. The Reverend Carnell Bagley, Pastor will be the Eulogist.
