Irma Katherline King
Irma King, 89, of Washington, New Jersey, entered eternal rest at her residence on September 29, 2026.
She was born September 25, 1937, in Skipwith, Virginia, to the late Joel and Eva Willard. Irma was a graduate of the historic West End High School in Skipwith, Virginia. She later relocated to New York before settling in New Jersey, where she spent much of her adult life.
Irma was a hardworking, independent, and resourceful woman devoted to her family and caring for others. She was an entrepreneur, caregiver, and gifted homemaker, especially known for her beloved sweet potato pies. Her faith was an important part of her life. She was a member of Bethel AME Church in Morristown, New Jersey.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Robert Raymond Willard, Gracie Bell Little, and Joel Willard Jr.
Cherishing her memory are her sons, Rev. Galindo King (Kathy) and Rev. Dennis King (Gwendlyn); three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Mildred Winn of Baltimore, Maryland, Ella Carrington of Houston, Texas; one brother, James Wilard of South Hill, Virginia, and a wealth of beloved family and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, October 10, 2026, 1:00pm, at Rocky Mount Baptist Church,Skipwith, Virginia, with Rev. Dennis King delivering the eulogy. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Public viewing will be Friday,October 9,2026 from 3:00–6:00 p.m., at Carter’s Funeral Home, Clarksville, Virginia.

I have known the Willard family since childhood.I can still remember all the fun we had running and playing in the yard,when we visited them with ma and daddy.Mrs.Eva always gave us snacks and a cold drink.Mrs.Irma still had that cheerful smile when I talked to her last.Reverend King,my family near and far send to you and your family our love and prayers.We know that all the precious memories you have of Mrs.Irma will be in your hearts forever.May God bless and strengthen you.
