O n Sunday, December 8, 2024, our beloved husband, father, grandpa, great grandpa, John Vernon Richardson, Sr., was called from his earthly home to his heavenly home. John was born on February 6, 1949 to the late Barbara Richardson. John attended schools in Mecklenburg County, Virginia. He gave his life to the Lord and joined the Greenwood Baptist Church in Boydton, Virginia. John worked at Burlington Industries in Clarksville, Virginia for over thirty years. John enjoyed watching the westerns and watching his Washington Commanders. John was a family man and he took being with family as a joy. He wasn’t a man of many words but when John spoke, you listened. John was preceded in death by a son, John, Jr.; mother, Barbara Richardson; and three brothers, James, Fredrick and George. He leaves to cherish his precious memories, his lovely wife of 52 years, Barbara Richardson; five children, Sheleta (Cisco) Crews of Chesterfield, VA., Kenyetta (David) Rice of Baskerville, VA, Kevin Richardson of Ashburn, VA, Michael (Adrianna) Richardson of South Hill, VA, and Derek Richardson of the home; five brothers, Albert (Wanda) Richardson of Palmer Springs, VA, Wendell (Grace) Richardson of Boydton, VA, Michael (Gloria) of Palmer Springs, VA, William (Tammy) of Fredericksburg, VA, and Randy Richardson of Boydton, VA; three brothers-in-law, James Evans and Willie Evans, both of Alberta, VA, and Thomas Evans of Boydton, VA; three sisters-in-law, Sarah Richardson of Boydton, VA, Fannie (Michael) Faltz and Gloria Harris of Courtland, VA; three grandchildren he raised as his own, Davon Moody, Tavon Moody and Nile Atwater, Jr.; twenty grandchildren; one greatgrandchild; two aunts, Willie Mae Richardson and Ruth Richardson of Boydton, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral Services for Mr. John Vernon Richardson, Sr., were held on Saturday, December 14, 2024 at the Greenwood Baptist Church, Boydton, Virginia with the Elder Calvin Richardson bringing forth the eulogy.
