Perry “Short Dog” Matthew Sydnor was born on December 19, 1959, in South Boston, Virginia at the Halifax Regional Hospital.
He attended Halifax County Public Schools and attended White Oak Baptist Church. After his schooling was completed, he was employed at Rochester Button Factory, Burlington Industries. He coached and refereed basketball games for the Recreation Department in South Boston, Virginia. He loved to hunt, fish, cook on the grill, go to car shows and spend time with family.
In addition to his parents, George G. Syndor and Mattie Irene Syndor who proceeded him in death, he also had four brothers, George Syndor, Jerry Syndor, Larry Faulkner and George Faulkner.
He is survived by his wife, Doris Thorpe; three children, Taisha, Jr, Candis Clifton; four grandchildren, Komasi, Devon, Cameron, Kelcee; one great grandchild, Tatum;
three brothers, Ricky (Diana), Melvin, Kevin; three sisters, Virginia (William), Christine, Juanita; brother-in-law, Donald Kirk (Sharon); sister-in-law, Kim; four
aunts, Marie King, Dorothy Fountain (June) Price, Christine Syndor; one Truett Richardson, Nannie (Harry) Syndor; one uncle, John Suitt (Sandra); one best friend,
Matthew McCargo; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A visitation will be held two hours prior to service. Service will be held on Thursday, August 27, 2026 at 1:00PM at the White Oak Fork Baptist Church, Virgilina, Virginia. Carter's Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
