"Out Loud, and On Purpose!!" (Motto of Reverend Ruby Williams')
The Reverend Ruby Williams, a dynamic woman of God, a mighty minister of song and a teacher and preacher of the gospel, was born on March 4, 1939 in Clarksville, VA to Edward and Lillian Daniel. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters: Marie King and Beatrice Boyd; and brothers: Judge Daniel and Graham Daniel. Ruby was educated in the Mecklenburg County Virginia Public Schools and graduated from West End High School in 1956. She then matriculated to Newark, New Jersey. She accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and was led to the Mt. Vernon Baptist Church where she was ordained. At Mt. Vernon, she embraced various roles and supported many ministries including Associate Minister, The Choir, Sunday School Teacher and Trustee Board. She truly loved the Lord and the call into ministry, and consequently her personal biblical walk led her to Newark School of Theology. Reverend Ruby used her voice and gift of singing to bless others. She traveled all over the country praising the Lord with the renowned gospel group Sister Sadie and the Biblettes. This gospel group afforded her the opportunity to sing with such artists as James Cleveland, Shirley Caesar, The Mighty Clouds of Joy, The Gospel Keynotes and The Canton Spirituals. Rev. Ruby loved participating in the many Senior activities and excursions in her community. She often relished at the blessings of these seniorconnections. Her work throughout the years included Greystone Hospital in Newark, New Jersey and Willowbrook Psychiatric Hospital in New York for over 25 years! Cherishing special memories and love are her nieces and nephews: Jean Boyd, Elliott King, Joyce Peeples (Earl), Michael Boyd, Cheryl Mangum (Wayne), Brenda Boyd, Gladys Moseley (Keith), Bernice Daniel, Betty White (Richard), Alphozo Walker, and Michelle Daniel; sisters: Annie Oliver Graham and Vera McDonald; special friend/ daughter, Rachel Gasque; and a host of other relatives and friends including her beloved Mt. Vernon Church Family who loved her dearly. While our hearts are heavy, we rejoice in the life she lived and the legacy that she left for us. Well done Reverend Ruby, well done!!
I Have A Place In Heaven Please don't sing sad songs for me, Forget your grief and fears, For I am in a perfect place, Away from pain and tears I am far away from hunger, Hurt, want, and pride, I have a place in Heaven, With the Master by my side My life on earth was very good, As earthly lives can go, But paradise is so much more, Than anyone can know My heart is filled with happiness, And sweet rejoicing too To walk with GOD in perfect peace, A joy forever new Lovingly Submitted by The Family
