Obituary For Robert Dokes, Sr.

Robert Wilson Dokes Sr., 79 departed this earthly life on December 9, 2023 at Lawrenceville Health and Rehab Center. He was born March 17, 1944 to the late Claude E. Dokes and Mary Ardell Dokes in Skipwith, Virginia.

Robert was baptized at an early age. He attended West End High School, Skipwith, Virginia. During his youth he lived in Skipwith, then he moved to New Jersey for the majority of his adult life returning to retire in Skipwith.

Robert was formerly married to the late Mrs. Mary Alice Dokes Osborne and to this union four children were born. He was a dedicated father, mentor, provider and protector.

In addition, to his parents, Robert was predeceased by his siblings; Margaret Gooch and Eugene Dokes and his son Reginald Wendell Dokes, Sr.

He leaves to cherish his memories: his sister Rachel McBee; his former spouse: Geraldine Lattimore: his children: Robert Wilson Dokes Jr. (Carol), Malinda Ann Johnson (Travis), Thaddisus Henton Dokes (Saleita), (daughter-in-law) Lauren Dokes, (stepson) Nathaniel Lattimore; twenty-seven grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews' other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Robert Wilson Dokes, Sr., will be held on Saturday, December 16, 2023 at 3:00PM at the Carter’s Funeral Home Chapel, 206 Virginia Avenue, Clarksville, VA. The interment will be at the New Light Baptist Church Cemetery, 21176 Highway Forty Nine, Skipwith, VA.

Minister Malinda Dokes Johnson will deliver the eulogy.
