Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, Mrs. Sarah Mosley Johnson, affectionately known as “Sadie,” transitioned peacefully from her home on Tuesday, July 15, 2025.
She was born on June 4, 1920, in Charlotte County, Virginia, to the late Morton Thomas andAlease Brooks Mosley. She was the granddaughter of the late Rev. Jordan Mosley of Salem Baptist Church in Red Oak, VA.
Sarah received her education in the Charlotte County school system. A lifelong learner, she went on to teach herself many skills, driven by determination, and a love of learning.
A devoted homemaker, she also worked as an In-Home Nanny and faithfully served the Morgan family for over 20 years. Later in life, she opened her heart and home to care for children through her own "Mommy Daycare," continuing to nurture young lives well into her later years.
A woman of faith, Sarah was a missionary at Salem Baptist Church in Red Oak, VA, where she served faithfully until her health declined. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life by gardening, cooking, canning, embroidery, and quilting. She also loved reading, playing checkers, dominoes, and bingo, often surrounded by family and friends.
In 1949, Sarah married Paul C. Johnson, Sr. (deceased), and to this union, three children were born: Patricia J. Evans (Carl) of Burlington, NC, Paul C. Johnson, Jr., of the home, and Baby Johnson, who preceded her in death. She leaves behind a legacy of love, including twelve grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren, and sixteen great-great grandchildren. Sarah was preceded in death by her siblings: Ilean Bates, Florence Lee, Ola Mae Carden, Annie Blanche Mosley, Eldridge “Uncle Poke” Mosley, and Eva Wilson. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Sudy Mosley (Eldridge), and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and extended family members who will continue to cherish her memory.
