Bertha L. Green Williams
May 17, 1933 - March 9, 2026

Bertha was born the fourth of six children to the late Reverend Jerry and Lillian Green of West Point, Mississippi. She accepted Christ at an early age at Old St. Peter Missionary Baptist Church, in West Point, Mississippi; where she remained a faithful and dedicated member. She served as Sunday School Teacher, Treasurer for the Senior Choir, President for the Home Mission, Secretary/Treasurer for the Usher Board and Senior/Junior Choir Director.

Bertha worked at Dugan Memorial Home for 23 years. She also worked for Bryan Public Library for 20 years. She was known as the sweet lady who assigned computers at the library.

Bertha was a very loving and patient person who always smiled when she talked to people. She was a very giving and helping person who always put her trust in God and never had a harsh word.

Bertha was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Jerry Green and Mrs. Lillian Green; her siblings, Jerry Green, Jr., Lephelia Harris, Elizabeth Griffin; her husband, James H. Williams; sons, Melvin E. Williams, Billy W. Williams; Rufus Williams and daughter, Carolyn Williams; and grandson, Gregory L. Clark, Jr.

Bertha leaves to cherish her memories: daughters: Annie Bowens, Martha J. Smith (James), Mary Henley (Rev. Nathaniel), Attorney Barbara W. Clark; Brenda W. Tate, Dr. Cheryl W. Smith (James), Jacqueline Y. Williams; sons, James H. Williams (Almazine) and Michael D. Williams; 25 grandchildren, 71 great-grandchildren and 45 great-great grandchildren; her siblings Cleophas Green and Elois Strong, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and close friends who will miss her dearly.
