A Celebration of Life Service for Ms. Mattie Sue Houston will be held Saturday, February 28, 2026 at 12:00 Noon, at Pleasant Grove M. B. Church, 1192 Pleasant Grove Church Road, Dekalb, MS, 39328. Visitation will be held Friday, February 27, from 6:00-7:00pm at Cedric D. Clark Memorial Chapel. Burial will be at the church cemetery. Ms. Houston, 63 of Meridian, entered into eternal rest Sunday, February 15, 2026.

Wen I stay on 9th Ave she was a very sweet lady that I ever have her in my life wen we have a long talk about who she kin to and find out that she was my cousin and I really missing u cousin Mattie Sue u just a mom to me when I didn't have nobody in my corner love u and Miss you always until we meet again
When I first moved back to Meridian in 2016, momma Mattie Sue was living on 9th Ave when she first took me in and started living with her and her family. She was a very loving, kind, and sweet person in my eyes and heart and started thinking of her as a mother figure in my life. I am forever grateful for you and I will always love and miss you.
