Obituary For Patricia Sparks

On Thanksgiving morning 2022, an angel got her wings., Patsy Sparks passed away peacefully in her sleep after a short illness with her loving husband at her side. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, retired hospice nurse, and most importantly family advocate. She spent 71 years on this earth helping others as any and all of these titles. When her oldest child, Lisa, was born with mental illness and disabilities, she refused to follow the recommendations from everyone to put her in a home and she fought to get Lisa the best "normal" life she could. Her "mama bear" instincts were put to the test as she battled the local Boards of Education and even the State of Georgia to get Lisa everything she was entitled to by law, including an education. Many don't realize it, but she helped pave the way for other children living with severe mental disabilities to be allowed in public schools in rural areas. Some 20 years later Lisa walked across the stage and received her diploma and even later attended classes at Daytona State College. She took great care of Lisa until her final breath. She spent the last 15 years of her nursing career as a hospice nurse until she retired alongside her husband and was able to live the beach life she dreamed of. She had a loving and giving heart and found joy in helping others. She is preceded in death by her parents: Daniel Wells and Ruth Webb (JP Webb), her siblings: sisters Beverly Watkins, and Sherri Aaron and brother Jerry Wells. She leaves behind her husband, Dennis Sparks; her children: Lisa Taylor, MIssie Ayers (Jason), Jackie Taylor (Sherrie), and Robbie Taylor (Kristi). Siblings: Harvey Wells (Debbie)Mike Wells (Helen) and Jeanie Wells (Tryphena). Grandchildren: Taylor (Norman), Jackie Coty, Reagan, Jacob, Jordan, Allyssa and Emma. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

Honoring her final wishes, the family will receive guests at the "Farewell Party" to be held on December 4th from 2-6 pm at the home of Missie Ayes, 101 Cedar Glen Court, Centerville, Ga 31028.

It will be a drop-in visitation with the family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Happy Hour Service Center 202 North Davis Dr. Warner Robins, GA 31093 (478) 929-600 or to a Non-profit hospice in your area. Both of these causes were dear to her heart.

Such a loss for our universe. Patsy was smart, kind, sensitive and loving to her coworkers and hospice patients. She carried life stresses with humor and perseverance. My condolences to her family. You were always her love, her life and her light.

This breaks my heart.. There is so many memories growing up I had with her from living beside her on Edwina dr in Macon to when she stayed on Sgoda circle... sending peace and understanding.

We were saddened to hear of Patsy's passing. When we moved to Sandra Drive in Ormond by the Sea, Patsy and Lisa came over to welcome us to the neighborhood and brought along with some baked goods. I would often see her and Lisa walking to the beach to look for shells. I will always remember her as being a warm, nice neighbor and have missed her when she moved. Patsy was an inspiration to everyone who knew her. Smart, beautiful, loyal, and funny as hell. She was a Phoenix who rose time and again. Sending love to her kids and comfort to all who feel this tremendous loss. My Aunt Patsy was a great woman. And great will be her memory. —Vince

My family and I are praying for you and Lisa and Dennis and the other family members to find comfort through your memories. I remember her visiting Savannah and we were sitting in her convertible with top down and she looked and me and said, we're like sisters, we just have a lot in common. We were comfortable together. And I do love to shop too. She will always be in my heart and my memories. Love you always Patsy. I'm glad Missie and Lisa have each other.

My mom was a beautiful woman inside and out. She was my best friend. She taught me so many things and we shared so many hobbies together, except shopping, she loved it and I didn't but I would go anyway and I could not keep up. I will miss her and hate the idea of this world without her. Lisa is her gift to me and I will honor her by taking care of her and always keeping mama in our memories. I love you mama.
