My encounter with Claire Porter occured when I was assigned to CA Johnson HS. That period ended in a 22 year collaboration with my dear colleague as Assisstant Principal. She was a committed "Professional Educatortor" to the very end oflife!
May she rest from her labor as het works do follow her.
Extending prayers, love and support to the Cunningham and Porter families.Claire Cunningham Porter and my mother, Dorothy Hollis Davis, worked at C.A.Johnson HS together for several years. We as their children traveled to Cherokee,NC in the late 60's on CAJ student field trip. It was a memorable and breathtaking sacrificial experience. I met Triumphant Soror Claire Porter over 27 years ago through her sister, Triumphant Soror Henrietta Massey from Rock Hill, SC. The course I needed to earn my teaching certificate led me to Winthrop University in Rock Hill and that's where I met Soror Massey. She shared with me that her sister, Soror Porter was the Assistant Principal at CA Johnson High School. I completed the student-teaching requirement at CA Johnson High School under supervising teacher, Triumphant Soror Bessie L. Thomas. During my oral comprehensive examination to earn my master's degree from University of South Carolina β Columbia, my examination board asked me about selecting CA Johnson High School as the school for the student-teaching requirement. Soror Porter advised me how to respond to this question and graduate with my master's degree. The degree may have my name printed on it, but I see so many more names on that degree! I am so grateful to God for how He has led me to so many wonderful people such as Soror Thomas, Soror Massey and her sister, Soror Porter. God brings the right people into our lives at the right time, just allow His Holy Spirit to guide you! My prayers continue to be with the family and all of us who respected and loved, Soror Porter! -Michelle Geter, Clinton, SC, MAT-Business Education πππ€ππ€π
