Alveta Virginia Campbell-Kaymore, a beloved educator and a pillar of the Hastings and Palatka communities, transitioned from this life into eternal rest on Saturday, March 14, 2026. Born on October 12, 1953, to Victoria Mildred Campbell, Alveta was a proud native of Hastings, Florida. She spent her formative years in the local school system and graduated from Walter E. Harris High School in 1971. Alveta’s passion for learning led her to Bethune-Cookman College (now, Bethune-Cookman University), where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Education as a proud member of the class of 1974. During her collegiate years, in 1972, she pledged her lifelong commitment to Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, faithfully embodying the principles of scholarship, service, sisterhood, and finer womanhood. Committed to excellence in education, she furthered her studies at the University of North Florida, earning her Master’s degree in early childhood education in 1979. Alveta devoted many years to shaping young minds within the St. Johns and Putnam County School Districts. She was more than an educator-she was a mentor, a guide, and a source of encouragement to countless students. Known for her beautiful smile and great sense of humor, Alveta found joy in traveling, spending cherished time with her family, and sharing laughter with all who knew and loved her. On the afternoon of March 14, 2026, Alveta entered the sunset of life 1739 at Avante at Jacksonville Beach. She was preceded in death by her mother, Victoria Mildred Campbell; daughter, Patricia Ann Davis; brothers, Epheriam and Joseph Campbell; sisters, Glenda Campbell-Williams, Maurice Campbell, Sr., of Palatka. Precious Memories Deborah Threet, Faye Threet, and Kimberly Campbell; husband, Douglas “Gene” Kaymore; and Godparents, Johnny (J.R.) and Mae Ruth Evans. She leaves to cherish her memory a devoted family, including her siblings, Frankie Threet and Tanya Campbell Jackson of Hastings, Australia Campbell and Marvin “Bruce” (Anya) Campbell of Jacksonville, and Tony She is also survived by her sister-in-laws, Staretha Allen and Patricia Campbell; aunt and uncles, Johnnie Lee Wilcox and Lawrence (Marion) Campbell, Jr.; Godsisters, Janet Mattox and Pamela Brooks; God brother, David Anderson; and a host of loving nieces and nephews, Vicki Allen, Shanica Campbell, Patricia (Jackson) Campbell, Jeimara (Curtis) Gamble, Uvina (Dominique) Allen, Faith (Fred) Russi, Brandon Allen, Joseph (Samantha) Campbell, Jr., Demetrius (Rosa) Johnson, Kelly Bolling, Sandria Campbell, John Lawson, Anthony (Pharis) Campbell, Latrelle Campbell, Asia Washington, Shayna Washington, James (Takela) Jackson, Jr., Ja’Tanya Jackson, Alexis Campbell, Brandon Campbell, Tony Campbell, Jr., Angalina Mitchell, Jordan (Courtney) Campbell, and Keegan Campbell. She also leaves behind a host of great-nieces and great-nephews: Josh Senior, Brian Pettiway, Kaiden Campbell, Nikayla Campbell, Marquise Bolton, Aniyah Campbell, Layla Campbell, Rashard Graham, Jr., Jalen Jackson, Jaela Jackson, Skyla Jackson, Riley Campbell, Royce Campbell, Anthony Campbell Jr., Victoria Campbell, Gabbie Campbell, Damian Campbell, Isaiah Campbell, Luna Russi, Orion Russi, Immanuel Hutcherson, Jr., Amour Jackson, Jakari Jackson, India Campbell, Alora Campbell, Joseph Campbell III, Zyair Campbell, Kaven Johnson, and Kameron Johnson. Additionally, she is lovingly remembered by her goddaughter, Shalanthia (Shae) Daniels; dear longtime friend, Carlos Jerome Frazier; and a host of cousins, extended family, and friends who will forever hold her memory close to their hearts.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at The Lord’s Temple Church, 140 Gilmore Street. A public viewing will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service.
Interment will follow at Oak Hill West Cemetery.
