Obituary For David Eugene Jenkins

David Eugene Jenkins, a devoted family man, passed away on February 16, 2024, at the age of 67. He was born on September 30, 1956, in St. Augustine, Florida to Marie Jenkins Mitchell and Harry Mitchell. David’s early life in St. Augustine was filled with the joys, simplicity, and the bonds of close-knit family ties. He attended RJ Murray High before leaving to follow his dreams and landing in Miami, Florida. Professionally David was a roofer and trucker. David also was a skilled handy man, a jack of all trades. David’s hobbies were a reflection of his multifaceted personality. He was always the life of the party. His hearty laugh was infectious, his dancing was legendary, and he loved his Miami Dolphins.

Predeceased by his parents, Marie and Harry, his twin brother, Eugene David, along with his loving sister, Mary Lou Florence.

David’s legacy is carried on by his loving brother, Harry Lee (Sonia) Jenkins, and loving sister, Belinda (John) Holliman. He was like a father to the host of loving nieces, and great nephews, and many others. David will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His spirit, characterized by generosity, warmth, and a genuine love for life, will continue to live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all the lives he touched.

The Jenkins family will receive friends and the community 6-7 p.m., Friday, March 1, at EA Kelley Sr., Memorial COGIC, 760 W. King St, St. Augustine

A Celebration of Life will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 2, at the Felix Coleman Memorial Chapel, 139 N. Main St, Hastings
