Her Life and Legacy
Elder Gladys Mae Dennis was born January 17, 1944, to Tereatha Williams Dennis and Jimmie Dennis Sr. She was a lifelong resident of Hastings, Florida, and educated at Walter E. Harris High School. On October 10, 1975, she attended St. Augustine Technical Center, receiving her interior design certificate.
Gladys was a faithful member of Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church in Hastings, Florida, where she dedicated her life to serving the Lord. She later united in life and became a member of Second Mount Tabor Missionary Baptist Church in San Mateo, Florida.
Even in her everyday life, she found profound joy in the simple things: gardening, arts and crafts, shopping, thrift stores, cooking, long walks, spending time with family and friends, and raising children with an endless supply of unconditional love. She proved to be a selfless and nurturing caregiver. She ensured her home was always filled with warmth, demonstrating that the strongest bonds are built on patience and understanding.
She was preceded in eternal rest by her parents, Tereatha Williams and Jimmie Dennis Sr.; sisters, Mozella Williams and Sandra Dennis; nephew, Terrance Dennis; and niece, Koscina Dennis.
She leaves to cherish her memory: sons, Shawn (Melba) Dennis, Michael (Keisha) Hamilton, James Mauseby IV, Charlie (Cindy) Williams, and Timothy Dennis; daughters, Sherica Dennis, Na’teria Hamilton, and Linda Jones; granddaughters, Ivie Dennis and Kesondra Dennis; brothers, Jimmy Dennis Jr. and Tony Dennis; great-grandchildren, D’zanon, Nalani, Sanai, Kiyon, and Zavion; aunt, Dollie Williams; nieces, Tanya Dennis, Jackie Dennis, Janice Dennis, Carolyn Gilyard, Toni Witherspoon, Cynthia Williams, and Tereatha Williams; nephews, Tyrone Williams, Johnny Williams, and Richard Jackson; along with a host of additional nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
