The legendary life of Jarrius Artrell Brown began on July 13, 1998, in Jacksonville. “Jaddious,” as his mother lovingly called him, was also affectionately known as “Big Baby” and “Jay” by family and friends. He was the beloved son of Chanthelia Gray and James Brown Jr. From birth, Jarrius was raised in the church by his mother, where she ensured he developed a relationship with Jesus Christ. His Christian journey began under the leadership of his uncle, Rev. Curtis Murray, at No Cross No Crown Christian Faith Assembly. In 2014, after moving to the Northside of Jacksonville, he became a partner of Forward Christian Center under the leadership of Pastor Charles and Azalea Williams, where he remained until his passing. Jarrius attended Atlantic Coast High School and proudly earned his certification as Specialty Trained Merchant Mariner on 8-23-2024. He was one of the most sociable people you could ever meet and truly never met a stranger. His million-dollar smile and bright white teeth could light up any room. Jarrius loved children beyond measure, with Lil JuJu holding a very special place in his heart. He carried himself with unmatched confidence and brought joy everywhere he went. Jarrius loved going to church, socializing, brushing his teeth, haircuts, writing, rapping, flirting, cooking, joking, and most importantly, spending time with his family and the many friends he made along the way. His heart was enormous, often causing him to place the needs of others before his own without hesitation. Though that generosity did not always yield the best outcomes, he never lived with regrets. What you saw was exactly what you got with Jarrius—he never pretended to be anyone other than himself to please others, and that authenticity made him unforgettable. He gave the very best of himself to everyone around him, lived life out loud, and was always willing to share whatever he had. Jarrius was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Sandy Murray Jr. and James Brown Sr.; his favorite great-uncle, Curtis (Carolyn) Murray; his aunt, Gwendolyn (James) Stewart; and his uncle, Trellis Murray.
His memories will forever be cherished by his loving mother, Chanthelia “Fura” Gray; father, James (Chevon) Brown; brothers, Chanton Brown, James Brown, Tayvon Gray, Dejuan Gray, Fura Gray, and Brian Crawford; sisters, Tayana Gray and Diamonique King; grandmothers, Gwendolyn Brown and Gwendolyn (Dennis) Carey; and great-grandmother, Margaret Murray. his aunts: Chelsey (Cornell) Presley, Sheann (Cuba) Murray, and Sandi (Dwight) Hannan; Special Cousin-Auntie, Curtrell Murray and Tomeka Williams; uncles, Ibe (Rashea) Murray and Wayne (Chantel) Jones; great-aunts, Naomi Harris, Thira Grimes, Tiowana Williams, Valgene Simmons, Carolyn (Willie) Fields, Jackie (Greg) Willis, Beatrice Williams, Rhonda Felder, Paula Williams, and Yolonda (Erskin) Marsh; great-uncles, Charles Clark, Raymond (Aaron) Anderson, Lorenzo Williams, Ronald (Roseann) Williams, Eugene Hall, Marvin Murray, Ricky Murray, Elijah Brown, and Miley Brown; great-great-aunts, Betty Pope, Peggy Joyner, and Edith (Sonny) Harris; and great-great-uncles, Gene (Edna) Murray and Adam Hall. Jarrius also leaves behind his godbrother, Jarrell Delancy; godsister Erin Dixon; nephews, Arayon and Jahir; niece, Araya; best friend, Sam Wilson; and a village of loving relatives and dear friends whose lives were forever touched by his presence.
Though his time here was far too short, the love, laughter, and unforgettable memories Jarrius shared will live.
