Lawrence Michael Manna Evans, 17, of Palatka, Florida, was born on September 4, 2008, in Gainesville, Florida, to Jermaine Evans and Ashley Floyd. He received his education through the Putnam County School District. Lawrence was a vibrant young man with a deep love for sports and teamwork. He proudly represented Palatka High School, where he participated in football, weightlifting, basketball, and track and field. His dedication, athleticism, and passion were evident both on and off the field. On Sunday, January 4, 2026, Lawrence transitioned from his earthly life to his eternal rest in Gainesville, Florida. Though his life was brief, his impact was meaningful, and he will be remembered for his energy, determination, and the joy he brought to those who knew and loved him.
Lawrence was preceded in eternal rest by his sisters, Spiritual Floyd – Leonard and Princess J. Floyd; great-grandparents, Mary & Otis Washington, Lucille Hagans, and Ralph Floyd; uncle, Lawrence M. Floyd; great aunt, Gracie Gutmanis; and great uncle, Alfred Floyd.
Lawrence leaves to cherish his memories: parents, Jermaine Evans, Sr. and Ashley Floyd; siblings, Islah Floyd, JaKia Evans, Jakeara Evans, Diamond Miller, Shardonia Miller, Asonyia Marlow, Destiny Williams, Holland Miller Jr., Malikh Miller, Jaliek Evans, Derrick Evans, Jermaine Evans Jr. and London Miller; grandparents, Pamela (Jerry) Floyd, Valerie Leonard Evans, Marvin Rhymes, Terry Cohens, Sr., and Irete El-Bey; father figure, Holland Miller, Sr.; Godparents, Travis (Montoya) Howard; aunts, Allison Floyd, Jackie Harrell, Iesha Leonard, Jasmine Leonard, Trurita Cohens, Shanda Lewis (Aumbay) Purdy, and Mwanza Lewis; uncles, Robert (Rochelle) Fields, Johnny (April) Fields, Darren Rhymes, Jamel Leonard, Rashee Leonard, Steve Cohens, Terry Cohens, and Terrance Cohens, special aunts, Brenda Rhymes, Lisa Bryant, special friend, Lonnie Brinson, Sr., special cousin, Ebony Hagan, and a host of cousins, extended family, friends, and sorrowing community.
The family of Lawrence will receive extended family, friends, and members of the community on Friday, January 16, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Pentecostal Church of God in Christ, located at 624 North 9th Street, Palatka, Florida 32177.
Lawrence will lie in repose on Saturday, January 17, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Palatka High School, and again from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Mt. Tabor First Baptist Church, located at 4909 St. Johns Avenue, Palatka, Florida 32177.
The Homegoing Celebration will commence at 3:00 p.m. at Mt. Tabor First Baptist Church.
