Mary Elizabeth Bass James, 77, of St. Augustine was born on Friday, July 21, 1944, to John Bass and Francis Hayes in Elwood, FL. In her adolescent years, she received part of her education in New York and later completed High School in The St. Johns County School District. After obtaining her High School Diploma, Mary began her employment with Desco. In March of 2007, she became united in Holy matrimony with her sweetheart Willie L. James, Sr. Mary enjoyed cleaning where she originated her own business from 2001-2008. She was a part of the Council on Aging and a member of Mt. Moriah Christian Ministry. Mary possessed a special love for all her kids and family. She often spent hours tending to her garden, playing bingo, and loving on her dogs.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in eternal rest by her husband, Willie L. James, Sr; son, Joseph Bass; granddaughter, Mercedes Bass; sister, Lillie Mae Finnie; brother, James Bass.
Mary Bass leaves to cherish her fond memories: children, Tammar Bradley, Rodney Bass, Erica Mack, Christopher Bass, Willie L. (LaTasha) James Jr., Erik James, Latoshia Peguse; Goddaughter, Frankie Williams, a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
The Family will receive extended family and friends on Friday, June 17, 2022, at New Mt. Moriah Christian Ministry from 6:00p.m. – 7:00p.m. The Homegoing Celebration will be 11:00a.m. Saturday, June 18, 2022, at New Mt. Moriah Christian Ministry. Burial will be 9:30a.m. Monday, June 20,2022, in Jacksonville National Cemetery.
