Obituary For Mother Doretha Baker Middlebrook

“And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be anymore pain.” (Rev 21:14)
Mother Middlebrook was born September 27, 1927, in Fairfield, FL (Marion County) to the late Willie Baker Sr. and Amy Behn Baker who preceded her in death.
On Monday, November 20, 2023, at The Ponce Therapy Care Center, in St. Augustine, FL, Mother Doretha Middlebrook departed this earthly life for her eternal resting place.
Mother Middlebrook graduated from Hastings Vocational School and married Willie B. Middlebrook in Baltimore, MD and had six children. Mother Middlebrook worked as an Educator in the St. Johns County School board for 21 years prior to retiring.
Mother Middlebrook should be remembered as a loving mother, devoted sibling, a true grandmother, wonderful aunt, a dedicated and supportive friend to those that knew, loved and respected her.
She always believed and encouraged her children and others to succeed and be their best.
Mother Middlebrook became a Christian at a very young age and began her work at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, then Pompey’s Temple Church of God In Christ. She later moved her membership in the late 90’s to Pentecostal Church of God in Christ under the leadership of the late Elder Andrews and later under the current leadership of Elder Johnny Shaw.
She was especially loyal to doing the work of Christ, by serving in many roles including Sr. Mother of the Mother’s Board, member of the Mother’s choir, Sunday School teacher of the Mother’s Class, President of Family and Friends Day, President of Golden Voices, member of the Hospitality committee, and Head Greeter of the Women’s Department. Mother Middlebrook was well renowned for her skill in reciting poems and had a unique gift in making you feel loved and welcomed at every occasion with her distinct style and flair for her Welcome Address speeches.
Mother Middlebrook felt that it was her Christian and civic duty to visit with the sick and shut-in sharing God’s word of encouragement. Mother Middlebrook was an avid sports fan and supportive of all activities her grandchildren participated in whether near or far.
Preceded in eternal rest by her late husband, Willie B. Middlebrook and son Willie Tyrone Middlebrook.
To Cherish her memories:
