Mozel Odom Key “MoMo”, 81, of St. Augustine, received the golden gift of her wings on January 25, 2021. She was born to Willie Jenkins Sr., and Hattie Odom on Thursday, June 1, 1939. She was a compassionate, warm, and fun-loving person who cared deeply for her family and friends. She was a devoted caregiver at Home Instead for over 5 years, until retirement. “MoMo” enjoyed telling family history stories, and she enjoyed “cutting a rug” at family gatherings. The talent that everyone knows her for was crocheting. She crocheted the most beautiful blankets and butterflies. In addition to her parents, Mozel was preceded in eternal rest by her stepfather, Arthur Bates Sr., sisters, Lucille Elmore, Bettye Bates, Clary Jenkins, Lenora Jenkins-Gillins, Annie Jenkins, Minnie Singleton, brother, Willie Jenkins Jr., son-n-law, Edward Anderson She leaves to cherish her memories: daughter, Bettye L. Anderson, grandchildren, Christel Mozel, Cynthia Michelle, Karl Eugene (Amanda), Vanessa Leianne Bates, great-grandchildren, Donita, Brittany, Marcus, Ariel, Ja’Keira, Keyawna, Ja’mya, Jalen, Iviona, Rashard, great-great grandchildren, Dashara, Dorrian, Ja’Nard, Aaliyah, Da’Niya, Anthony, Antwan, Antonio, Brooklynn, Nashaun, Ramiah, Trinity, sister, Gwendolyn Bates, brothers, Arthur Jr., Carl (Elaine), Frankie Bates, devoted friends, Gwendolyn Locke, Debra Shaw, godsons, Keith and Kent Fontaine, goddaughter, Clayanna Duncan, grandniece/daughter, Chavon Bates, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The Odom Key family will receive friends and the community from 6-7 p.m., on Thursday, February 4, 2021, at St. Mary’s Missionary Baptist Church in St. Augustine. A Celebration of Life will be held graveside at 11 a.m., Friday, February 5, 2021 at Craig Memorial Park Cemetery
