Rickey A. Johnson was born on December 17, 1957, to Johnny Johnson and Ruby Mae Brown. He proudly served as a Sergeant in the United States Army for 12 years and continued his dedication to service as an Army Reserve Sergeant for an additional 11 years.
On September 27, 2021, Rickey married Vernita Clemons in St. Augustine, Florida. He was employed with Brynes Packing Shed and Middleton Farms.
Rickey found joy in fishing, cooking, farming, outdoor activities, and, most of all, spending time with his family. His favorite saying was, “No matter where you go, or what you do, I’m gone always love you.”
Rickey was preceded in eternal rest by his parents, Johnny and Ruby Johnson; sister, Joyce Johnson-Brown; brother, Jessie Johnson; and niece, Anita Brown-Campbell.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Vernita Johnson, Hastings; sons, Rondrick Johnson, Las Vegas, Johnathan Baldwin (Shekereia), Statesboro, Georgia; Christian Martin, St. Augustine; daughters, Lashay Holliman (John) and Dametris Martin, both of St. Augustine; brother, Billy Johnson, Hastings; sisters, Martha Singleton (Bennie) and Barbara Anderson, both of Hastings, and Dorothy Willis, St. Augustine; goddaughter, Ruby Williams, Elkton; 18 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
