Rose Marie Garrett was born October 9, 1958 to James Garrett and Bobbie Jean Davis in Lake Whales, FL. Rose spent the early part of her teenage years in Bunnell , FL. where she graduated. In her late 20's she relocated up north to Danbury, CT to raise her beautiful daughter and to start a new journey. She worked several jobs to get on her feet, but landed the right one when she started at the Danbury Housing Authority. She worked there for 16 years until she retired in 2008. Rose was a sweet soul with a heart of gold, and if you've ever had the pleasure to be in her presence, I'm sure you've heard her sing like a songbird. Her favorite thing to do was sing. Rose out of the blue would sing any and everywhere, no matter who was around. She touched lives through her beautiful soprano tone because she was aware that it was her purpose in life to do so. Rose not only touched you in song, she touched you through her kind and encouraging words. She was always able to just listen to you and be a soft spot for you to land in your times of need. It brought her Joy!
On August 5, 2021, God in His infinite wisdom and power called Rose home to rest. She was preceded in death by her mother, Bobbie Jean Davis; brothers, Anthony “Sean” Davis and David “Pop” Edwards; sisters, Rhonda “Faye” Baskin and Helen Danzy; grandparents , Joseph and Doshia Garrett - Manuel and Pearl Gipson.
Rose is survived by her only beloved daughter, Shelita Garrett (Dana Scruggs); father, James Garrett, Sr.; stepmom, Joyce Garrett; sisters, Susan Gipson, Rachel Finely, and Tiwanda Broome; brothers, Michael Davis, James "Pookie" Garrett Jr., Delton and Karry Broome; one grandchild, Londyn Marie Scruggs; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins whom she loved Dearly! And a special best friend in the WHOLE WIDE WORLD - Annette Anderson.
