Obituary For Ruby M Davis

Ruby Mae Davis was born in Elkton, Florida on November 20, 1939, and lived a life marked by faith, strength, love, service, and hard work. Ruby was a devoted single mother of eleven who worked tirelessly to provide for her family. She spent many years in farm labor before becoming head chef, working until retirement and taking pride in honest work. To many, Ruby was Mom, Granny, Nanny, Ma, and a steady source of love. Everyone who visited Ma’s house left with something in their hands and heart. If someone was hungry, she made sure they were fed. She believed in giving, sharing, and helping however she could. Ma loved thrifting and finding treasures that now remain part of her legacy. Though she had only a third-grade education, she taught herself, became a strong reader, and showed that wisdom comes through determination, experience, and a willing heart. Above all, Ruby loved the Lord. She studied her Bible daily and lived her faith through service, feeding, teaching, caring for and giving to others with love. Her legacy lives on through the children she raised, the family she loved, the people she fed, the lessons she taught, the lives she touched, the treasures she collected, and the faith she lived each day. Ma served well. She loved the Lord, her family and friends and everyone who crossed her path knew they were loved. On September 2, 2026, a beautiful life came suddenly to a close.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Florence Williams and her sister, Doretha Brown of Delaware.
Ruby leaves to cherish her memory her daughters: Davia (Dawuud) Wesley-Abdulansir of Tampa, FL; Beatrice (Anthony) Fuller of Utica, NY; Geraldine Davis of Elizabeth City, NC; Barbara (Darryl) Brown of Jacksonville, FL; Sharon (Johnny) Davis of Daytona, FL; and Ruby Dean Carter of Utica, NY.
Her sons: Jermaine (Patricia) Wesley of Elkton, FL; Michael Session of St. Augustine, FL; George (Rachael) Davis of Utica, NY; Shannon Davis of Elkton, FL; and Jermaine Wesley Jr. of St. Augustine, FL, her “baby” of the bunch.
Her sisters, Betty Armstead (Timothy Reese) and Tommie (Raymond) Lewis; her brother, Willie (Carolyn) Fields; and many beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Rest well, Ma. Your work here is done but, your love, lessons, memories, and treasures will live on in all who were blessed to call you Mom, Granny, Nanny, Ma, and friend.
Well done, thy good and faithful servant!

Visitation: 5-6:30 p.m., Friday, September 11, 2026, at First Baptist Church of Armstrong, 6370 Armstrong Rd, Elkton, Florida

Celebration of Life: 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 12, 2026, at The Lord's Temple, 140 Gilmore Street, Hastings, Florida

Interment will be held in Armstrong Cemetery
