Obituary For Willie Wideman, Sr.
Willie James Wideman, Sr. was born on December 31, 1927, to Johnnie Jordan and Mary Wideman in High Springs, Florida. He received his education in High Springs public school system. He married Alice McDuffie in 1950 in St. Augustine, Florida. He was a long time member of Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church, and a member of the St. Augustine Choir Guild. He was employed with A & P grocery as well as Broudy’s Supermarket for over 20 years. He also worked part-time at Winn-Dixie and held a side job in lawn maintenance. Willie enjoyed wearing his outfits with matching accessories, visiting Wal-Mart daily, gardening, and socializing with new people. In addition to his parents, Willie was preceded in death by his spouse, Alice Wideman, daughter, Mary White, sisters, Irene Davis, Ruth Burnett, and Juanita Rivers.
He leaves to cherish his many memories: son, Willie Wideman, Jr., daughters, Sylvia Wideman, Susan James, brother, Abe Andrews, sisters, Betty Schumpert, Deloris Collins, Avon Miles, Eyvonne Smith, Sharon Jordan Hollie, Devoted cousins, Allen Hall, Esther Thomas, (7) grandchildren, (8) great grandchildren, a loving amount of great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and devoted friends.
The Wideman family will receive friends and the community from 5-7 p.m., on Thursday, September 22, 2022, at Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church. The Homegoing Celebration will be 11:00 a.m., on Friday, September 23, 2022, at Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church, Rev. Richard Madison will bring the Words of Comfort. Interment will be held in Evergreen Cemetery.
