1942 - 2024
Ms. Gilmore of Auburndale transitioned Friday, February 2, 2024. A visitation will be held Monday, February 12, 2024 from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. with the Celebration of Life to follow. All services will be held at Coney Funeral Home - 647 W. Memorial Boulevard, Lakeland, Florida 33815. The Interment will follow the Celebration of Life at Oak Hill Burial - 4620 US Highway 98 S., Lakeland, Florida 33810.
Edna Mae Gilmore was born May 1, 1942 to Mae Luis Mitchell and Perry Croft, Sr..
She came to Lakeland at the age of 7 and attended Rochelle School. She was a house keeper, cook, and daycare worker. She cared for all of her grandchildren and great great-great grandchildren. She loved to shop and had a very caring nurturing way of doing things. If you knew her, you knew she was a force to be reckoned with.
She was very loved by her family. She fulfilled many roles: a wife, a mother, a sister, an endearing a businesswoman, and a true woman of God. Her humility and quickness to seek reconciliation deepened the bonds of love and respect among her family and friends. Her gift for sharing and creating joy was unparalleled. She brought laughter and joy effortlessly, to everyone she met.
She was preceded in death by: parents: Perry, Sr. and Mae Louise Croft; husband; James Gilmore, Sr.; siblings: Emmie Louise Croft, Perry Croft, Jr., Rueben Croft, Jaquieline Croft Jackson and children: Victoria Gilmore and James Dennard Gilmore.
Edna’s legacy lives on through her children: Gregory Croft, Sr., April Gilmore; grandchildren: LaTanya Gilmore, Roddrick Gilmore, Adrian Dunn, Shyenna Bell, PreSheé Gilmore; nephew: Victory Troutman; great grandchildren: Daysha, Daizonay, Destini, Coreyanna, Treyton, Adrian, Jr., Adrinique, Kadrian, Kadria, Shamaria, Tramari, Princeston, JeMya, Jeriyah, Jaide, Javonni, Tyler, Tristin, Jr. and a host of cousins, nieces and extended family.
