Mr. Knight of Lakeland transitioned Monday, September 23, 2024. A visitation will be held Friday, October 4, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Coney Funeral Home - 647 W. Memorial Boulevard, Lakeland, Florida 33815. The Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, October 5, 2024 - 11:00 a.m. at Greater New Jerusalem Baptist Church - 1125 N. New York Avenue, Lakeland, Florida 33805. Interment will following the Celebration of Life at Oak Hill Burial Park - 4620 US Highway 98 South, Lakeland, Florida 33812.

Ecclesiastes 3:1 “To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.” Maurice Knight was born and raised in Lakeland, Florida and was a graduate of Kathleen High School. Maurice grew up in the Pentecostal Church of God in Lakeland. Maurice loved football, bowling, fishing, traveling, talking noise and what his sister called his “happy juice” in that order. Maurice played flag football as an adult then, went on to coach several little league and flag football teams to include the Patriots and Titans. Maurice started his dream job approximately 3 years ago. Maurice was a truck driver for Covenant Transport/Land Air. Anyone that knew Maurice was an avid bowler and always made time to take family, friends, and strangers alike to the bowling alley for a lesson.

Maurice Knight was born June 9, 1974 to Emma Ree Knight and Isaiah Murray. Maurice’s journey ended on September 21, 2024. Maurice was preceded in death by his grandparents: N.J. and Nell Knight; son, Maurice Knight, Jr.; uncles: Raymond Knight, Marshall Knight; cousins: Markie and Louis Knight.

Maurice is survived by his loving wife: Pauline Knight; sons: O’Sha Garrett, Martavis Knight, Tyler Knight (Erica), Tyrice Knight, Jarquez Knight, Isaiah Knight, Zechariah Knight, Larry Hayes, George Foreman, III, Lamonte Foreman-Powell, Mario Foreman-Powell; daughters: Shante Knight, Lakeshia Foreman, LaTonya Foreman, LaToya Foreman, Lynette Foreman; siblings: Doris Knight (Russell), Holland Knight, Timothy Murray (Kiet), Isiah Murray, Jr. (Jewel); sister-in-law: Robin Polydore; brothers-in-law: Jospeh Hayes, Lawrence Polydore: uncles: Louise Knight (Patricia), James Knight (Evon), Michael Knight, Eddie Murray (Rhonda), Richard Murray (Shirley), Tom Murray; aunts: Evangelist Carolyn Williams (Pastor Adrian), Bessie Lee Massey, Estell Jackson, Margarite Jackson; cousins: Sheenequa Knight, Tory Knight, Tihe Knight, Lequient Knight (Amelia), Shadena Knight, James Knight, Jr., Tyrell Knight, Janelle Knight, Shatoya Knight; special niece: Shaeteria Knight; special nephew: James Bragg, Jr. and a host of other cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
