Angelia Marchelle Stokes was 65 years old when she departed her earthly home on Friday, September 17th 2021, at 5:45AM while at the Carolinas Medical Center Comfort Care Center in Charlotte, NC.
Angelia, who was known as “Angie or Angieshell,” by her family and friends, was born on December 8th 1955, to the marital union of James Edward and Mary Elizabeth Stokes in Bessemer City, NC. Angelia lived there in Bessemer City, until she graduated from Bessemer City High School. After high school, Angelia attended the HBCU Barber-Scotia College of Concord, NC.
Angelia was a true servant in so many ways in her life. Just like her mother, Mary Elizabeth Stokes, she had a sweet spirit of giving and just loved to cook for just anyone. Although Angelia did not have any children of her own, she was Mom’s Mom to so many around her and was known for being identified as a “sweet kind-hearted person”. She was known as “Aunt Angie” to her own nieces and nephews as well as to numerous young kids and young adults.
Angelia served in the church ministries of Senior Citizens, Youth/Young Adults at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Kings Mountain, NC, St. James Baptist Church and Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church both of Bessemer City, NC. She also served with the Heavenly Harvest Food Bank of Mt Pleasant Baptist Church. Angelia is preceded in death by her father: James Edward Stokes, mother: Mary Elizabeth Stokes, sister: Felica Stokes and her sister- in-law, Emma Seed Stokes.
She leaves to cherish her memory: Brother-James A. Stokes (Angelina), Brother-Michael A. Stokes Sr. (Willowdean), Sister-Malia Lynn Stokes (Tony), Sister-Christina A. (Charles). Nieces: Charmaine Clark, Jasmine Stokes. Aaliyah Youngblood and Nephews: Michael Stokes Jr., Deven Thomas, Charles Hager, Jr. a host of great nieces, nephews, special family relatives and special family friends.

To the family of Angelia Stokes: I just now ( October 1st) seen the passing of your love one, because I don't live in Bessemer city and no one have told me, because not many people in Bessemer city knew my phone number and the few who does, didn't even call me, but it's okay now because she's in the hands of the Lord. Even though I am late I will still keep the family in my prayers. My Condolences to the family. James stowe
