Ernestine McClee Mills was born on August 9th, 1933 in Gastonia, NC to Maggie and Ernest W. McClee. She departed this journey on February 24th, 2021 at CaroMont Medical Center in Gastonia, NC.
Earnestine attended Highland High School (Class of 1951) where she excelled tremendously in her studies.
She was a faithful member of St. John’s Missionary Baptist Church. She sang on the hymn choir and was voted Mother of The Year in 2019. She truly loved the Lord and her faith was unmovable to the very end. Ernestine was the baby of her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Maggie Stevens McClee and Ernest Wadell McClee; her husband, Cleveland Haskel Patton Mills; five sisters: Margie Guardia, Doretha Martin, Sarah Warlick, Modena Brown, Juanita McClee, one Brother; Ernest “Buck” McClee, one daughter; Sabrina A. Mills; and two sons, Samuel L. Mills and Morris J. Mills.
She leaves behind to cherish fond memories: her granddaughter; Chyrell M. Beard of the home; three sons: Reverend Roger C. Mills Of Lincolnton, NC, Joe N. Mills of Gastonia, NC,Thomas L. Mills of Asheville, NC; three daughters: Angela M. Knight of Charlotte, NC, Evelyn M. Moore, Gwendolyn Odums (Bobby), both of Kings Mountain, NC, 15 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other beloved family members.
