Obituary For Janelle M. Miller

Janelle Monique Miller (Poki) was born on June 6, 1972, in Gastonia, NC. Janelle was called to eternal rest on July 5, 2021. She was the daughter of the late Robert and Dolores B. Miller.

Janelle was known commonly as “Poki.” She was a faithful member of St. John’s Missionary Baptist Church in Gastonia, North Carolina, where she was a current member of the Kitchen Committee, former member of the Usher Board and a charter member of the Inspirational Choir. Janelle was a Hunter Huss graduate class of 1990. Poki worked at Burger King as a store manager until her health would not allow her to work. Poki was an awesome mother that devoted her life to making sure her son Ashton had everything he needed. Even when she was sick, she made sure she attended Ashton’s games, practices and any event he needed her at. She adored her son. They were ultimately the center of each other's life. Janelle was also an awesome sister, aunt and friend that had a smile that would light up any room.

She was preceded in death by her father Robert Miller, mother: Dolores B. Miller, “Granny Moote”, a brother: Christopher L. Miller; parental grandparents: John and Bertha Miller; maternal grandparents: Reverend Foster and Dorothy Benjamin; nephew; F. Terrell Miller.

She leaves to treasure her memories a beloved son: Ashton Kyle Miller of the home; sister: Sheiva Mills (Robert) Mt. Holly, NC; brother: Benji Miller, Charlotte, NC; brother: Rico Miller Mt. Holly, NC; sister: Ejean “Sissy” Hamilton (Reginald) Charlotte, NC, brother: Montrez Walker of Gastonia, NC, sister/niece: Nikki Wallace (Bobby) Mt. Holly, NC, goddaughter: Makiah Tigler and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Burial: Armstrong Cemetery, Gastonia, NC
