Mary Jackson Warren was born July 1, 1913 to the late John Fulton and Lona Jackson Spriggs. She departed this earthly life and transitioned to receive her wings at her Heavenly Father’s home on Wednesday, September 30, 2020.
Mary was a lifelong member of Galilee United Methodist Church, where she served faithfully with no boundaries. Mary loved to sing and was a member of the T. A. Powell choir of Galilee for many years. She was also a devoted member of the York Prayer Band #4 traveling throughout North and South Carolina. She had a unique style of singing that anyone who knew her could recognize and say, “that’s Mrs. Warren singing.” Mary was a loving mother, me-maw, grandma, and Big Mama to all her family. However, when it came to discipling, she would only need to give a glazed stern look, that we all recognized and respected. Her interests included fishing, gardening, quilting, and reading the word of God were some of her favorites. Mary was also a woman of fashionable style. For many years as a young adult and older adult into her 80’s, she was well known for wearing her 6” stiletto heels which were reflective of her confident personality. Mrs. Warren was loved and respected by many. In 2016 on her 103 birthday, she was honored by Kings Mountain City council and was presented the key to City of Kings Mountain by Mayor Scott Neisler. She was humbled by the great honor. Above all her many attributes was her unwavering faith in God. Mrs. Warren truly loved the Lord and attributed her long life to believing in God’s word, wholesome living, and treating people as she would want to be treated.
Rejoicing in the memories of her long life are her children; Pauline Smith (Robert) of Kings Mountain, N. C.; Pearl Warren of Paterson, NJ; Clarence Warren Jr. of Pasiac, NJ; Zenobia Reid (Jerry) of Gastonia, N. C; Deborah Warren of Gastonia, N.C.; Dorris W. Adams (Michael) of Kings Mountain, N.C.: Telena James of Sacramento CA,; and Angela Warren Setzer (Danny) of Gastonia, N.C. In addition, 43 grandchildren, 75 great-grandchildren, and 58 great-great grandchildren.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years Clarence Warren, Sr; six children Joe Lee Warren, Freelove Warren Byers, Betty Warren King, Paul Warren, Frances Warren Alston, and Freddie Warren.

Ms Warren was a longtime member of The Patrick Senior Center and one of the sweetest people I have ever encountered. She was a daily visitor until her health started failing but was well over 100 years old then! I can still hear her voice and her "Good Morning Sweetheart" when she would arrive. My condolences to her family she will be greatly missed. Bonnie Hale- Patrick Senior Center-Kings Mountain
