Obituary For Ray Whisnant

Ray Junior Whisnant was born in Detroit, Michigan on January 3, 1944 to Rayfield Whisnant and Lula Clark Whisnant. Ray Whisnant made his transition in a peaceful sleep on August 7, 2020 at CaroMont Regional Medical Center, Gastonia, North Carolina.

Ray worked for Firestone/Bridgestone for 36 plus years without missing a day. He was devoted to taking care of his family. Ray was known to most family and friends as “Fox.” He could out run mostly everyone. He loved the LORD and would share that if you started talking about it. He was a wonderful husband, father, uncle, and friend. He adored his children and grandchildren. Anyone who met him would get a big friendly smile. Ray is preceded in death by three sisters; Shirley and Loretta Whisnant, Carolyn Huff, two brothers; Raymond and Clarence Whisnant.

Ray leaves to cherish his memory: his wife of 52 years, Bonnie Bush Whisnant, sons; Terry Whisnant (Sharon) of Cherryville, North Carolina, Tim Whisnant (Angela) of Dallas, North Carolina, daughters; Marie Regina Whisnant Rhodes, Vergie LaVon McGill (Robert) both of Gastonia, North Carolina, three brothers; Arthur Whisnant (Janice) J.C. Whisnant (Trish) and James Whisnant all of Shelby, North Carolina, a special son-in-law; Tim Rhodes, grandchildren; Tierra Whisnant (Jordan), Terry Whisnant, II, Danielle Whisnant, Dominic Whisnant, Jayleigh Whisnant, Tim Whisnant, Jr., Aliyah Whisnant, Ratavius McGill, Imani Rhodes, Lach McGill, Shanda Neal, Davian Rhodes, Mariah Rhodes, 6 great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

PLACE OF SERVICE: PRIVATE Wheat Creek Baptist Church Cemetery Rutherfordton, North Carolina.
