I want to thank God for the pioneering life and ministry of Rev. Dr. Maria-Alma Rainey Copeland. As an African Descent Lutheran Pastor, I stand on her shoulders and honor her life and achievements. Thank you Rev. Dr. Copeland! And I thank God for your legacy, indeed to God Alone be the Glory!

Rev. Dr. John H. Spencer

Prayers of mercy and healing to her sisters and family as the promise of resurrection is made real to you. I was Maria Alma's pastor for 8 years and have known her since 2000. Rev. Ed Harper and I shared Holy Communion with her in July and had such a grateful visit. I will always remember her biography story and her words, no matter what church work and church members may get in your way, pastor, strut your stuff because you are a child of the king. Thank you Lird, I am highly blessed and favored.

My heart is truly broken, at the beginning of this year the Lord put it on my heart to try to get in touch with Pastor Copeland after we lost contact years ago. Unfortunately I was never able to get in contact with her . Pastor Copeland was my Pastor at Mizpah Lutheran Church in St.Louis,MO. She was unlike anyone I ever met. She had a presence that couldn't be put into words. She spoke so eloquently and I always loved her sermons but what I remember most was her firm but loving words of wisdom. Pastor Copeland was a rare gem and she will always have a special place in my heart. My condolences to her family. May the Lord comfort you. 🙏🏾
