Mrs. Betty Ann Braddy Henley affectionately known as Ann was born October 5, 1946 in Louisville, Georgia to the late Edward and Ethel Lee “Doll” Heggs Braddy. As the second daughter, Ann grew up with her five siblings and her three close cousins who were her siblings at heart: Bobbie, Edna, Gloria, Ed Jr., Teresa, Dewitt, Juanita, and Seconia. She was feisty, always full of life, and at times, her mouth would get in her trouble. In addition to her parents, she was reared by her grandfather Davis Heggs and her aunts, Mazzie and Claudia Heggs. At an early age, Ann accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and joined Greater St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church.

Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, August 15, 2026 at 11:00 A.M. at the Greater St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, 604 W. Broad Street, Louisville, GA.

Ann graduated from Jefferson County High School on June 1, 1964. After graduation, she moved to Batavia, New York to begin her career under the care of her family who included Uncle Harvey and Aunt Peggy. Ann actively worshipped at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church. She was a factory worker and completed general office certification in September 1967. Ann worked as a secretary at Batavia Pontiac before moving to Manhattan where she lived with her beloved cousin, Seconia Cantlow Jones. In December 1970, Ann completed training at the Airline Personnel School in Kansas City, Missouri and was a stewardess/flight attendant for American Airlines.

At a class reunion in 1974, Ann reacquainted with her high school classmate Don Henley and on June 28, 1975, they married in Warner Robins, Georgia. Their union would take them to Stuttgart, Germany where Don served in the United States Air Force. While in Germany, Ann worked for the United States Army as a switchboard operator. She also met couples that would become her lifelong friends: Geneva and Bill Cashaw, Gracie and Johnny Barnes, Coretha and Marty Hill, Audrey and Lewis Smith, Dellah and Lewis McDonald, and Gloria and Willie Nelson. Annette Cashaw later joined the circle of friends. After Ann and Don returned to the United States, they made their home in Clinton, Maryland and continued their friendship through monthly fellowship. Ann also enjoyed visiting her Aunt Claudia who lived nearby in Washington DC and worshipping at the Andrews Air Force Base Chapel. Ann worked for the Center for Naval Analyses (CNA) from March 1982 until her retirement in 2006 in the security department as a switchboard operator, receptionist, and supervisor of conference support. Her skills and highly professional approach to her work were invaluable to the leadership and high-level government and military agencies.

Ann enjoyed traveling, brunching, shopping, and reading novels. She was a stylish and sophisticated lady who could be seen driving her black cars and wearing her fur coats. She loved spending time with her family and friends. Ann and Don traveled to Georgia and New Jersey each year to visit family. They were always there for life events and class reunions. Ann was the ultimate hostess and welcomed family and friends in her home. She especially enjoyed having her nieces and her great niece Riley Jolee spend the summers with her and Don. As a dedicated aunt, she took them sightseeing around the DMV and always made sure they were ready for the first day of school. Ann was giving to all and made sure that everyone was provided for and supported throughout her life.

Early in the morning on August 3, 2026, Ann’s Alzheimer’s journey ended peacefully at home with Don by her side. She is preceded in death by her parents Ed and Doll Braddy, her cousin Seconia Cantlow Jones, her father-in-law, Mr. Robert Henley, Jr., her brothers-in-law, Dewhit Wilkins and Robert Henley, III, her sister-in-law Deborah Braddy, and several friends from her Germany circle.

To cherish her memories, she leaves her devoted and nurturing husband of 51 years, Donald E. Henley. Her sisters, Bobbie Ann Braddy Wilkins, Tinton Falls, NJ, Edna Braddy Swint (Carswell), Louisville, Georgia, Gloria Braddy Young (John), Tinton Falls, NJ and Teresa Braddy, Louisville, Georgia. Her brother, Edward Braddy Jr., Kathleen, Georgia. Siblings at heart Dewitt Walker (Connie) Atlanta, Georgia and Juanita Felder, Asbury Park, New Jersey. Her steadfast and unwavering niece Candace Swint Bethea (Hollis), Atlanta, Georgia Her nieces and nephews, goddaughter Hope Wilkins, New Brunswick, New Jersey, Conquisha Dominque Thompson (Keith) Lawrenceville, Georgia, Nikita Braddy, Tampa, Florida and Marquetta Thomas (Jeremy), Thomson, Georgia, Chadwick Parker (Amber), Augusta, Georgia, Antonio Johnson (Vanessa) Wrightsville, Georgia, Robert Henley IV (Tameka), Midville, Georgia, Robert A. Henley, Claxton, Georgia, and Anfernee Farmer, Wrens Georgia. Mother-in-law, Mrs. Geneda James Henley, Louisville, Georgia. Sisters-in-law Phyllis Henley, Augusta, Georgia, Debbie Grant, Lavonia, Georgia, and Elaine Davis Henley, Louisville, Georgia. Step daughter, Vanessa Johnson, Glennville Georgia, step granddaughter Brianna Murphy, Glenville Georgia, and a host of loving great nieces, great nephews, cousins, godchildren, other relatives, and friends.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Deacons and Trustees of Greater St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church.
