Obituary For Bobbie Ann McIntosh Carswell

Bobbie Ann McIntosh-Carswell: A Pillar of Family, Faith, and Community

From March 8, 1961, to February 21, 2025, Bobbie Ann McIntosh-Carswell touched the lives of many.

The legacy of Bobbie Ann McIntosh-Carswell, who transitioned on February 21, 2025, to join her loving parents, Alexander McIntosh Sr. and Bernice McIntosh, along with her siblings Alexander Jr., Charles, Jerome, Tony, and Helen. Born on March 8, 1961, Bobbie was the seventh child in a close-knit family that included her siblings: Alexander Jr., Brenda, Charles, Helen, Alonzo, Jerome, Tony, and Verdell. Raised in a home filled with love and unity, Bobbie was a beacon of strength, compassion, and faith.

A devoted mother, Bobbie raised three beautiful children: Tawanaca, Rodney, and William, who were the light of her life. She was also blessed with a large and loving extended family, including grandchildren Delarenta, Jakevious, Trevyuana, Younique, Makayla, Brandie, Taneyah, Taleyah, Sterling, and Jordyn, as well as a great-grandson, Kashytn, and her grand pup, Zozo.

Bobbie married Calvin Carswell, the love of her life, and they shared not only a birthday & wedding date but a beautiful bond that spanned over many years. Together, they built a life full of love, joy, and cherished memories. Bobbie is survived by her devoted husband Calvin Carswell (Wadley, GA), her children Tawanaca Williams (Augusta, GA), Rodney Coleman (Augusta, GA), and William Pringle (Augusta, GA), Deon Gardner (Swainsboro Ga) as well as her grandchildren, great-grandson, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins who she loved dearly.

Bobbie's legacy extends beyond her family to a wide circle of friends and community members. She is also survived by her sisters Brenda (Frank) Thomas, Verdell (Michael) Mitchell, and her brother Alonzo McIntosh, as well as her sister-in-law Melody Carswell (Swainsboro) and brother-in-law James Green (Maryland). She was also dearly loved by her uncles: Cornelia Gilmore (Wadley), Myles Gilmore (Wadley), Ollie McIntosh (Wadley), and James Gilmore (warner Robbins, GA), and her aunts: Elma C. Swint (Pooler, GA), Nola Mae Gilmore (Brooklyn, NY), Ada Lee Jackson (Wadley), and Betty Jean McIntosh (Brooklyn, NY). Additionally, she was deeply cherished by her godchildren: Cornelious, Nakisha, Daylan, and Khyzen, and her god-sister, Alicia Hinkins.

Bobbie had a special bond with her nieces and nephews, who she loved like her own children. She shared a close connection with Moosie, her oldest niece, and considered Anthony a third son. Chaquita was her faithful niece, always there to take her wherever she needed to go. Teresa was her listening ear, patiently hearing her out, and she fondly called Angie, Heather, Sheena, and Toya often.

Bobbie dedicated 26 years of service to Johnson State Prison before retiring, earning a reputation as a faithful and hardworking employee who loved her job. After her retirement, she continued to share her heart with others by working part-time at Tippy Toes Daycare, where she was affectionately called "Grandma" by the children she adored. She often visited them when she was off, a testament to the love and care she provided to everyone around her.

A devout Christian, Bobbie’s faith was instilled in her at a young age, largely influenced by her father. She began her spiritual journey at First Baptist Church and later became a devoted member of Pine Level Missionary Church, where she served in many roles. Bobbie’s dedication to her community was evident as she, along with other citizens of Wadley, started an appreciation dinner for the first responders of Jefferson County.

Bobbie Ann McIntosh-Carswell was a proud graduate of Wadley High School, Class of 1979. Shortly after graduation, she joined the U.S. Army, where she served for a brief time, demonstrating her strong sense of duty and commitment. Throughout her life, Bobbie formed lasting bonds with many close friends, including Tracey Lewis, Cathy Carswell, and Cleathia Harris, who were an integral part of her support system and will forever cherish the memories they shared.

Bobbie had many interests, from fishing and decorating to her passion for sports, particularly Georgia Bulldogs, Atlanta Falcons, and Dallas Cowboys.

Her unwavering love for her family, her faith, and her community will be deeply missed, but her memory will live on forever in the hearts of all who knew her.

Rest in peace, Bobbie Ann McIntosh-Carswell. Your love, your strength, and your kindness will never be forgotten.
