Mr. Calvin Wells, Sr. passed away on June 18, 2025, at Doctors' Hospital in Augusta, Georgia. He was born in Louisville, GA on November 3, 1960, to the late Joe Lewis Heggs and Bessie Lois Wells.
A Celebration of Life Services will be held on June 28, 2025, at Hardeman Springfield Baptist Church at 2:00 p.m. Interment services will follow at the Hardeman Springfield Baptist Church Cemetery.
Public viewing will be held Friday, June 27, 2025 from 3:00 – 6:00 P.M. at Davis Funeral Home.
Calvin dedicated his career to the Georgia Department of Transportation as a Heavy Equipment Operator, starting in 1987. He initially worked in Maintenance and later advanced to become both a Heavy Equipment Operator and the Senior Supervisor of Maintenance, retiring in 2018. A proud graduate of Louisville High School, Class of 1979, Calvin joined Hardeman Springfield Baptist Church at an early age. In 1996, he became a Trustee at the church and served with dedication for as long as his health permitted.
Calvin had a passion for grilling and enjoyed helping others. He was an avid fan of the Atlanta Falcons and the Atlanta Braves. However, his most cherished role was that of a father, which he considered his greatest accomplishment. Calvin deeply loved his wife, sons, and family.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his grandmother, Louise Wells and Blanche Heggs, as well as his brothers Stanley Wells, Johnathan Wells, Ozark Wells, and Steve Washington.
Mr. Calvin Wells Sr. is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife of 41 years, Queen Palmer Wells, of Louisville, Georgia. He is survived by his sons: Trayvis “Dut” (Tambernesha) Wells of Evans, Georgia; Calvin “JR.” Wells of Savannah, Georgia; Antwan “AJ” (Nakeesha) Wells of Marietta, Georgia; and Keith (Fiancée, Morgan) Wells of Guyton, Georgia.
He is also survived by his brothers: David “Lucious” Wells of Louisville, Georgia; Joseph (Stephanie) Heggs of Cocoa, Florida; and William “Woody” Wells of Louisville, Georgia. His sisters include Angela Brown of Warrenton, Georgia; Michele Heggs of Cocoa, Florida; and Rachel Heggs of Cocoa, Florida.
He leaves behind a legacy of love through his grandchildren: Shaniyah Tremble, Jaylen Wells, Keelan Green, Trayvis Wells, Bryan Wells, Caiya Wells, Taliyah Wells, Ayiana Wells, Keith Stephen Wells, Brooklyn Wells, Teagan Wells, Braelyn Wells, and Joseph Wells.
He grew up like a brother with one first cousin, Troy (Linda) Heggs of Blythe, Georgia, He is cherished by his sisters-in-law and brother-in-law: Dorothy Palmer, Ella Palmer, and Wilbur (Sandra) Palmer, all of Louisville, Georgia.
Mr. Wells is also remembered by his aunts and uncles: Suluer Wells, Jerry Heggs, Vonion (Dorothy) Heggs, Jane Marie Heggs, all of Louisville, Georgia, Betty Faye Peeples, Rockledge, FL, Archie (Brenda) Heggs of Savannah, Georgia.
Mr. Calvin Wells Sr. will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
