Mr. Charlie Wesley Baker was born on October 1, 1949, in Hancock County, Sparta, Georgia, to the late Robert Baker Sr. and Carrie Bell Miller Baker. He was the eighth of their children. Mr. Baker peacefully transitioned from this life at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, October 17, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. at the James and Virginia Davis Chapel, located at 727 Beech Street, Louisville, Georgia.
Interment will be held at Stone Springfield A.M.E. Church Cemetery, Stapleton, Georgia just beside his beloved Ruth.
At an early age, Mr. Baker accepted Christ and joined Mineral Springs Baptist Church in Mitchell, Georgia. He received his education at Mitchell Middle School and Glascock County Training School in Gibson, Georgia. Throughout his life, Charlie was known for his strong work ethic and dedication, spending many years working as a mover with Allied Moving Company.
In 1974, Charlie met the love of his life, Ruth Roberts, with whom he shared a beautiful bond until her passing. He was also preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, and two sisters.
Cherishing his memory are his loving sisters, Marie Houston and Rosie Matthews of Atlanta, Georgia; sisters-in-law, Evon Baker and Mammie Wade of Atlanta, Georgia, and Jennett Richardson, Gibson, GA and Mary Alice Simpson of Stapleton, Georgia; brother-in-law, Odell Roberts; several nieces and nephews including, two devoted nieces, Wanda Kelly of Stapleton, Georgia, and Felicia Kitchens of Bartow, Georgia; along with, cousins, and friends who will forever remember his kind spirit and gentle heart.
