Born on December 27, 1967, to the late Austin Sr. and Nina Mae Brown Hill, Mr. Curtis Hill transitioned peacefully on December 6, 2024, in Jefferson County. His legacy will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.
Celebration of Life Service will be held at the Kingdom Life Fellowship Ministries on December 14, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. The internment will follow at the Kingdom Life Fellowship Ministries Cemetery.
From a young age, Curtis was actively involved in his community, beginning his journey at the Redeem Church of God. He pursued his education within the Jefferson County Public Schools, where he laid the foundation for his future endeavors.
Curtis dedicated over 28 years of his career to the Battle Lumber Company, where he excelled as a forklift driver. His commitment to hard work and reliability was further exemplified through his tenure at the Department of Transportation, where he served for several years.
Beyond his professional achievements, Curtis had a vibrant personal life filled with passions and interests. He found joy in cooking, often bringing people together with his culinary creations. His love for movies allowed him to enjoy storytelling through film, while family gatherings were cherished occasions for him, filled with laughter and connection. Additionally, Curtis enjoyed engaging in friendly competition during card games, enjoying the company of those around him.
Overall, Curtis's life reflects a harmonious blend of dedication to his work and a deep appreciation for family and community, leaving a lasting, positive impact on those around him.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Austin Hill Jr. and John Willie Hill.
He is survived by his son, Lakenton JaKeem Hill of Wadley, GA, and his stepdaughter, Julisa Howard, whom he cherished as his own. Curtis leaves behind two brothers, Terry Hill (Gladys) from Crossing Green and Albert Green of Wadley. He is also survived by six devoted sisters: Nina Lue Hill, Mary Hill, Sherry (Paul) Shinholster, Mary Knight, Emma Hill, and Clara Kemp, all from Wadley, GA.
Additionally, he is remembered by his aunts, Betty Ruth Jackson of Bartow and Nora Gilmore of Wrens, and his significant other, Towanda Best. Curtis will be missed by a loving array of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends who hold his memory dear. His legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire all those who had the privilege to know him.
