Deacon Jonathan Jones, Sr, Peggyswint Lane, Bartow, GA departed this life, Monday, October 28, 2019. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November. 2, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. at Salter Grove Baptist Church and cemetery, Bartow, GA. Jonathan is preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Veda Bostic. He was born in Jefferson County to the parentage of the late Nathaniel "Son" Jones and Lula Mae Bostic Jones and joined the Salter Grove Baptist Church at an early age. Jonathan moved to New York in the 60's and worked for several years on N.Y. Police Department. He returned to Georgia and worked with computers in several companies including Delta Airline, Sears and Medical College of GA. He reunited with Salter Grove Baptist Church where he worked faithfully and for the last 15 years served as Chairman of the Deacon Board. He was a Lifetime Member of the NAACP and awarded as "Man of the Year” in 2018 and 2019 and was a dedicated member of The Charlie Brown Kidney Foundation. Jonathan was owner of Excellence Landscaping. Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Addie Lee Calhoun Jones, Bartow, GA; his children, Jonathan Jones, Jr, Martinez, GA; daughter, Jennifer Jones, Martinez, GA; stepson, Antonio (Toni) Henson, Atlatna, GA; step-daughters, Sonya Smith and Tawana (Allen) Jackson, Martinez, GA; one brother Will (Shirley) Palmer, VA; one sister, Ruby (Walter) Harkley, Bartow, GA; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Susan Dowdell, Jacksonville, FL, Gladys Hill, Anna Calhoun, Melvin Brookins, Edward Brookins, Bartow, GA., Willie Brookins, Louisville, GA; grand children, Latavia Jones, Jaylan Jones, Jonathan Jones, Faith Wesbey, Alaiya Henson, John Henson, Ashley Smith, Elijah Smith, Stephon Smith, Allen Jackson, Jr. Cam Henson, Micah Henson, Kobi Henson and William Henson; nieces, nephews, cousins and other and other relatives and friends.
