Doris Thompson Tennyson Flournoy, departed this life March 8, 2020. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 14, 2020 at 1:00 P.M. at the Hardeman Springfield Baptist Church and Cemetery, “Dot” as she was lovingly and affectionately called was born in Jefferson County to the parentage of the now late Lottie Mae Thompson. Dot was born and raised in the community close to Hardeman Springfield, and it was at Hardeman Springfield where, as a child, she joined in Christian fellowship. She remained a faithful and dedicated member for her entire life and was a missionary ministry member. She was educated in the public schools of Jefferson County. Dot worked at Old Capitol Nursing Home, retiring in 2008 after thirty-five years of service. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her late husband, Willie Flournoy as well as three brothers: Willie James Thompson, Lewis Thompson, and Oscar Thompson. . Left to carry on without her love and guidance are her sons: Charles Tennyson, Augusta; Chester Tennyson, Louisville, GA; and her daughter, Dianne Young, Louisville, GA; two stepdaughters: Sharon Rogers, Woodbridge, VA; and Carolyn Flournoy, Bartow, GA. her sisters: Georgia Mae Stone and Jennie Gamble, Louisville, GA; her brothers: John Wesley Thompson and Ronnie (Sophie)Thompson, Augusta, GA., and Horace (Marilyn) Thompson, Petersburg, VA; her loving and caring grandchildren: Delmus (Sheronda) Jackson, Tangela Jackson, Shaquetta (Terry) Lane, Christopher Young, Craig Young, Lagarian Hannah, Preston Tennyson, Akeelah Tennyson, Jessica Rogers, and Jasmine Rogers, as well as her great-grandchildren, Zariyah Tennyson, Zakhari Lane, and Christy Jordan; her special god-children, Calvin (Bertha) McBride, Shirley Hughes, and George Dawson, as well as her aunt, Gladys Atkins, Miami, FL; and her brother-in-law, Arthur Flournoy, Wadley, GA.
