Effie Jackson transitioned peacefully in her residence in Augusta, Georgia on the morning of June 6, 2021 after a courageous battle with an extended illness.
Effie was born on September 20, 1954 in Mount Vernon, New York to the late Mariah Toliver Jackson. Effie was reared by her grandparents, the late Robert and Rodever Toliver. Upon graduating from Washington County High School in 1972, Effie continued her education at Albany State College in Albany Georgia. Effie pursued and graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Nursing, which contributed to her successful career as a Department of Veterans Affairs and Neonatal Nurse for 38 years. As a devoted member of Kingdom Life Fellowship Ministries, Wadley, Effie served in several capacities, including: an Elder, Sunday School teacher and member of the Board of Trustees for several years. Determined to remain a faithful servant to the Lord, Effie remained active until it was no longer possible due to her illness.
Effie was preceded in death by her mother, Mariah Jackson, grandparents, Robert and Rodever Toliver, and niece and goddaughter, Reynelle Jackson.
As the youngest of five children, Effie leaves to cherish her memories: four brothers, Roy (Hazel) Toliver, Wadley, GA, Theodore (Beatrice) Jackson, Mt. Vernon, NY, Leo (Ethel) Jackson, Wadley, GA, and James Jackson, Augusta, GA, seven nephews, Wendell, Corrie, Germaine, Geremy, Rashad, Terrence, and Theodore, five nieces, Patrice, Seketha, Tennille, Kristy, and Kimberly, 2 godchildren, Stephanie Jackson and Geremy Toliver, several great-nieces and great-nephews, a special sister-in-law, Mary Ingram Jackson, a devoted friend and coworker, Rebecca Holling Schilling, and a host of other loving relatives, devoted coworkers and friends.
Besides spending quality time with her family, Effie had a passion for baking, reading, shopping, traveling to visit relatives, and solving puzzles. Distinguished memories of Effie will include her intellect, as well as her willingness to assist those in need. Touching the lives of many, both near and far, Effie’s legacy will include her generosity, high morality, poise, love for her family, and most importantly her comprehensive knowledge of and love for the Word of God.
Public viewing will be held Friday, June 11, 2021 from 3:00 to 7:00 P.M. at Davis Funeral Home, 725 Beech Street, Louisville, GA
Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life on Saturday, June 12, 2021 at Kingdom Life Fellowship Ministries Wadley, 11972 Highway 1 South, Wadley, Georgia at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be held at Kingdom Life Fellowship Ministries, Wadley, GA, with Apostle Clifford Duckworth Sr. officiating.
