He attended Louisville High School and ran track. Larry began his spiritual walk at St. Paul Baptist Church in Sylvania, Georgia, in 1999. He was ordained as a Deacon at Sound Doctrine, Rocky Ford, GA, Healing and Deliverance Ministry in November 2016. Lastly, the Agape Healing & Deliverance Temple International was his church home at the time of death, where he served as an Elder. The Wilsons served as the Father & Mother of the Ministry.
Elder Larry (Papa) Wilson served 33 years, serving others, on the City of Louisville Fire Department as a Lieutenant and First Responder.
Larry loved fishing- no matter what time of the day or year, he was always willing to go to someone’s fishing hole to see what was “biting”. He never met a pond, creek, stream or river where he didn’t want to throw in a line.
Another one of his passions was working in the yard- he spent countless hours cutting down trees, digging up weeds, sitting and pondering on what his next project would entail. After Hurricane Helene came through, he worked diligently to clear the debris from his property, while still making time to go fishing.
And Larry was an avid TV watcher- he knew the weather forecast for every area in Georgia, if not the nation. The local, national, and international news kept him informed, and he was always ready for a good discussion. While he loved the news, he also loved watching comedies, cartoons, and family game shows. He just enjoyed being able to laugh and tell jokes as only he could.
Larry was a strong man, mentally and physically. He presented a gruff exterior, but everyone knew he had a heart of gold. He worked tirelessly to assist anyone in need and would move mountains for those he loved.
