It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Mr. Freddie Lee Knight, Sr. a beloved member of the Bartow, Georgia community. Born on February 26, 1953, he was the cherished son of the late Yoma Knight Sr. and Maddie Bell Knight.
Homegoing Celebration will be held Saturday, August 30, 2025 at 3:00 P.M. at the Tarver Grove Baptist Church, 4411 Tarver Grove Church Road, Bartow, GA
Interment will be held in the Tarver Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Knight was an alumnus of Washington County High School, where he laid the foundation for a dedicated career in the lumber industry. He proudly served as a Lumberman at Battle Lumber Company in Wadley, Georgia, for an impressive 32 years until his well-deserved retirement. His unwavering work ethic and commitment to excellence were evident throughout his career.
Freddie held a profound love for his family and children. He was known for his generosity, always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need, whether it was tending to lawns or assisting neighbors with tree work. His joyful spirit shone through in his simple pleasures, especially his enthusiasm for purchasing scratch-off lottery tickets.
Mr. Knight's legacy is enriched by the memories of his six sisters—Nancy, Virginia, Veian, Burnestine, Alberta, and Ethel—and his two brothers, Ervin and Yoma Jr., who preceded him in death.
He leaves behind a vibrant family that includes nine children: Lolita Edge of Tampa, Florida; Dewan and Lamar Wilson of Miami, Florida; Elisheya Knight of Brooklyn, NY; Christina Williams of Swainsboro, Georgia; Freddie Lee Knight Jr. of Bartow, Georgia; Dominique Knight of Brooklyn, NY; Quarmel Knight of Bartow, Georgia; and Coretta Knight of Wadley, Georgia. Additionally, he is survived by two sisters, Annie Joseph of Brooklyn, NY, and Celia Passmore of Teaneck, NJ, along with one brother, John Knight of Bartow, GA.
Mr. Knight's legacy continues through his 33 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, as well as a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends who will carry forward his spirit of kindness and generosity.
As we celebrate his life, we honor the active pallbearers who will carry him to his final resting place: Chester Parker, Eddie Passmore, Freddie Knight Jr., Micheon Davis, Frank Miller, and George Hudson.
Mr. Freddie Lee Knight will be remembered not only for his professional contributions but also for the love, laughter, and warmth he brought to the lives of everyone around him. He will be deeply missed but forever cherished in our hearts.
