Grant Boyd entered the world on June 18, 1946, to the late Annie Beulah Boyd in Jefferson County, Georgia. He didnโt enter by himself, he had his twin, Frank Boyd, with him.
Viewing will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. Monday, March 27, 2023
Funeral services will be held Monday, March 27, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at the Smith Grove Baptist Church. Interment will be held in the Church cemetery with Military Honors.
He was a member of Smith Grove Baptist Church of Wren, Georgia. He was united in marriage to Delores R. Boyd in Baltimore, Maryland, March 12, 1966. Grant was blessed with two daughters, the late Shinora (Hope) Boyd and Sondra A. Whetstone.
He is joining in Heaven his two sisters, Irene Boyd Morgan and Mary Hickerson, and daughter, Shinora Hope Boyd.
He is survived by his loving wife Delores R. Boyd; sisters, Katie Owens, Helen Mayers, and Dawn Avery; brothers, Frank Boyd, John Avery, and Kelvin Avery; three grandchildren, Miles Whetstone, Marc Whetstone, and Morgan Whetstone; nieces, Catherine White, Audrey Battlefield, Melody Thomas, Terra Johnson, and Patricia Wilson; nephews, Tony Owens, James Mayers, James Thomas, Russell Smith, and Sean Coleman; sister in-law, Mary Burrell, Catherine Boyd; and brother in-law, Thomas Coleman; special friend, Bruce Simpson; and granddaughter, Brooke Simpson. Grant was a graduate of Douglas High School in Baltimore, Maryland. He received his Associates Degree from a community college in Baltimore, Maryland. He retired as a Manager at Lucent Technology in 1994. He served in the Army, where he spent a year in Vietnam. He loved racing cars for a long period of time at Capital Raceway with his twin brother, Frank Boyd, and friends. They received trophies and write-ups in the newspaper for some of their winnings
