Hessie Lee Gardner, Jr, lovingly known by many as “June Bug” departed his life unexpectedly on May 28, 2026.
Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, June 2, 2026 at 1:00 P.M. at Davis Funeral Home, James and Virginia Davis Chapel, 727 Beech Street, Louisville, GA. Interment will be held in the St. Paul Primitive Baptist Church, 17760 Hwy 242, Bartow, GA.
Public viewing will be held Monday, June 1, 2026 from 3:00 – 6:00 P.M.
Born on October 30,1967 in Emanuel County Hospital (Swainsboro, GA). To the parentage of Hessie Lee Gardner, Sr. and Mrs. Pearlean Jackson Gardner. He was a member of James Temple CME church in Bartow, GA. Hessie attended Wadley High School. Later he obtained his CDL license. He also worked alongside his father at Everett Dykes Grassing Company as a highway construction worker.
“June Bug” was a self-taught mechanic whose talent and passion for fixing cars earned him the respect of everyone who knew him. He never met a stranger. His smile, laughter, and larger-than-life personality could light up any room. His hobbies included watching sports and NASCAR races, as well as spending quality time with his family and friends, creating memories that will be cherished for years to come.
Above all else, his greatest pride and deepest love were his sons. His boys were his world, and his love for them will forever remain a part of who they are.
He was preceded in death by his parents, the late Hessie Lee Gardner, Sr. and Pearlean Jackson Gardner; his sister-in-law; several cousins and numerous cherished aunts and uncles.
Those left to cherish his precious memories include his beloved sons, Braxton La’Mont Gardner and Hessie Lee Gardner, III both of Swainsboro, GA; Ja’Kyrin Washington of Swainsboro, GA, whom he lovingly raised and cherished like one of his own sons; and his special niece, LaToya Deann Anderson of Statesboro, GA, who he shared a special bond with and was like the daughter he never had; Seven siblings: Tommie Lee Gardner of Bartow, GA, Edward Gardner of Louisville, GA, Maryann Gardner of Bartow, GA, Glenda Sue (Wendell) Tarver of Louisville, GA, Aaron (Lisa) Gardner of Vidalia, GA, Jamie (Vanessa B) Gardner of Quincey, FL, Allison Gardner of Swainsboro, GA; Two aunts: Pastor Lessie Mae (Henry) Williams of Swainsboro, GA, Shirley (Charles) Williams of Swainsboro, GA; he will also be missed by a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, family and friends.
