Obituary For James Habersham

James Barry Habersham, a man of love, slipped into his eternal rest and everlasting peace Sunday, January 31, 2021. January 26, 1956 was a day of great celebration. On that day, James Barry Habersham was born at Fort Gordon Military Base, Augusta, Ga, to the late Freddie L. And Lillie Mae Habersham of Stapleton, GA. It is recorded there is a time and a season for everything…. He accepted Christ at an early age and joined Jones Grove Baptist Church under the late Rev R.F. Thompson’s leadership in Louisville, GA. As a pre-teen Rex (which was his name by many who knew him) relocated to Columbus, GA. There he continued his spiritual growth and united with M. Harris United Methodist Church under Rev Blue’s leadership. As a teenager, he moved to Philadelphia, PA. Because of His love and devotion for God, he united with the Mars Hills Baptist Church, where Pastor Ike Smith was the under Sheppard. Due to the distance, he had to travel, he moved his membership to First Timothy Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Claud Pickens, which was in his neighborhood. After the late Claud Pickens died, the under Sheppard became Paul Werts. Rex was very active in the church he was a doorkeeper and a member of the choir, also a member of the Feed a Meal program which gave food away once a week to those in the community. He received his early education from Jefferson County Elementary School, Louisville, GA. He went to Carver High School, Columbus, GA, but graduated from German Town High School, Philadelphia, PA. Rex further his education at the University of Maryland, Eastern Shores. He married Pamela Williams, and to this union, they had a daughter Mia Habersham. His wife died and left him to care for their daughter. He enrolled in Lincoln Auto Tech Program so he could be with his daughter. He worked at Alumina Company until they closed. He was there for 29 years. He later married his present wife Saline Bush, and they lived happily until his death. On Rex’s Christian journey in life, he worked hard spiritual and was a source of strength and inspiration to all who knew him. He was the handyman for all who call upon him. He never said no to those in need. His gentle, positive outlook on life will surely be missed. His lovely memories will be cherished by his wife, Salena Habersham, daughter Mia Habersham, Stepdaughter Lana Williams, three sisters Rev. Elaine Mack (David)of St. Lucie, FL. Sharon Moore (Alton), Augusta, GA, Beverly Landry of Orlando, FL. Seven brothers, two of whom preceded him in death (Freddie Habersham, Jr. and Horace Mincey), Henry Thurman, Randy Stanford, and Reggie Stanford, Orlando, FL. Milton Mincey, Wadley, GA. And Rev, Glenn Mincey of Davisburg, GA. One special uncle Jimmie Habersham, Columbus, GA. Five aunts, two uncles, four grandchildren, and a host of cousins and friends.
