In Loving Memory of Jimmie Lewis Sims, a Devoted Father, and Family Man On November 12, 1931, James Sims Sr., and Marie Bostic Sims were blessed by our Lord and Savior, with a son they named Jimmie Lewis Sims. He was born in Avera, Georgia located in Jefferson County. On Tuesday, May 10, 2022, at Steven’s Park Health and Rehabilitation Center Augusta, Georgia Jimmie was called home to be with the Lord. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. at Old Bethel Baptist Church, Bartow, GA. Public viewing will be held Tuesday, May 24, 2022 from 3:30 to 6:00 P.M. From an early age, he worked side by side with his father and brothers in the fields of Georgia, to help support their family, before landing a job with Dupont Chemical Company. At the age of twenty-two he and his former spouse of thirty-two years (Naomi Jordan) relocated to Brooklyn, New York seeking a better life for their growing family. After relocating to New York, he worked for Sea Train a U.S. Government ship building company at the Brooklyn Navy Yard, and later for The New York City Technical College as a maintenance worker, until he retired and relocated back to Georgia. Jimmie was preceded in death, by his parents James Sims Sr., Marie Bostic Sims, children Jimmie Sims, Richard Sims, Bobby Sims, and Herleen Sims. Siblings, Walter Sims Sr., Jessie Sims Sr., Mary Ruth Jamison, Eva Jean Sims Gibbons, and Lorene Sims Gardner. Words alone cannot truly express what you meant to our family. You will forever be cherished and adored in death as you were in life by your son’s Nathaniel Sims Sr. (Gail) Sims (GA), and Elliot Sims (NY). Siblings, Anne Vaughner (NY), Betty Jean (James) Jefferson (NY), Christine Small (GA), James (Fannie) Sims (FL), David Sims, (GA). Granddaughters Shannon D. Sims (PA), Tamara D. Sims (NJ), Takara D. Sims (NY), Brandi Garcia (NC), Alexandra N. Sims (GA), Nahija Sims (NY) Grandson’s, Jabar Curtis (NY) Nathaniel Sims Jr (GA) and Dion Whittingham (NY) and thirteen Great Grandchildren, and one Great Great Grandchild, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
